The latter certainly -- the former may be a bit difficult :-( because we realised that around here we haven't got a lot of choice in frames (or framers, come to that), and also it would be very expensive to send framed, not to mention the difficulty of making sure it's wrapped safely enough so it won't break. So we'll probably send it as it is now, and contribute towards a frame which SIL will then get for it in London. Not quite what I had in mind, but as it was originally conceived as a birthday present for last August, then turned into a Christmas present, I don't really want to wait until we go and visit them at the end of March!

Ah Mabel sometimes it just works out that way. I am sure that she will be so happy with it she won't even thinkl of when it was originally intended. And you are right to wrap it safe enough to send framed would make it a huge box and excessively expensive.

This is sooooooooo gorgeous Mabel. Not sure if I've missed it further back in the thread but what are the dimensions of the finished piece? I can understand why you're so chuffed especially as it's been such an ongoing project but you deserve a huge pat on the back, I'm sure Isobel's going to be just as happy to see this :D :D :D

The stitched area is 17"x4" on 36ct over two. Putting the chart together, especially with all the canges I was making, was quite time-consuming in itself, so you'd have to figure that in; the stitching itself wasn't too bad, although it took me longer because I added all those fractionals. Realistically, if you don't stitch anything else in between and you can spare a couple of hour every day, you should have no trouble finishing a letter every week (more if it's not a complex one), so Melissa would take about 6 or 7 weeks tops -- would you like to borrow the chart book? I'd be quite happy to lend it to you... :-)
