Ok, this is what I have done so far. I was also in Belfast today and called into the craft store and bought my first ever metallic floss...DMC. As you can see I have started using it as the backstitching...my word...it doesn't half fray. I just one strand and buy the end of it I must have had 3!

Can anyone give me tips on using this thread? It is DMC Light Effects.

Oh the wonders of DMC metallic thread--I've had more than my share of fun with them. My suggestions would be to use shorter lengths and try using thread heaven on it---it does a great job on other metallic threads--not sure how it works on the DMC ones though as I didn't have the thread heaven at the time I last used them.
Nice stitching!!

Hi Mine was done totally in DMC light Effects so I deffo know what you mean! I don't get on with Thread heaven so just had to get on with it but using very short lengths is much better :D

KerryT that just looks amazing, where did you get the box from?

Shin- I personally find DMC metallics the worst to stitch with out of the 3 types I've tried, but one tip I would definitely recommend to stop fraying is to acutally tie the thread in a knot (at the end of the thread) to your needle, then you just need to make sure the knot stays nice and tight and no fraying!! :D

KerryT - That looks fantastic. :applesauce: :applesauce:

Shin - Murmured gave you good advice there; that's exactly what I do. Plus I use slightly shorter lengths than I normally use.
