I really do love this piece. I can't wait to see it come alive once you've backstitched.

A quick note to say I've been struck down with what is probably swine flu. I've been off work since Thurs and though I've tried to do some work on the project it hasn't been very successful.
There is no hope of reaching my deadline (Thurs). So either I hand it over unfinished and finish it after Christmas or try and work on it in secret at my parents home.
I'll try and do another photo tomorrow night, but that'll be it till after Christmas. Thanks for all your support thus far!

Todays update:
Less than 1/3rd of the backstitching done and I've gone wrong again in the colour usage round the ducks breast. Going to need to redo that bit.
Still ill. Still no work being done, and going to try and get a doctors appt tomorrow.
Also have wrapped no christmas presents, written no christmas cards - I'm now dreadfully behind.

Sorry to hear you're feeling ill. Hope you get better soon. The backstitch is looking lovely - as Rose says, the duck's breast looks great as it is.

The backstitch really makes it stand out, and I like the use of different shades of bs, sometimes black can be a bit harsh, this is lovely and subtle!

Feeling much better! Back at work. Wrote Christmas cards and wrapped pressies (including this one though still unfinished!) last night. Nearly back on track.
Was amazing to take the fabric off the frame and see the whole thing for the first time, it's been wrapped in some acid free tissue paper and rolled into a postal tube and then wrapped and decorated with gold thread and pearl buttons.
Will upload some piccies after Christmas. See you all in a couple of weeks and hope everyone has a fab holiday season!

Happy Holidays, too!

And it's done!
Handed it over unfinished and then worked on it from Boxing Day till the 29th to finish it.
Mum cried every time she tried to thank me so I think I did well.
Here's a picture of my mum with her completed present:
I also got a Lowery stand and Tanto thread organiser for xmas will review at a later date (but I love the stand to bits already). I shall have to start a new SAL thread for my next piece now...
