Thanks, everyone. :D

Yeah, I'm quite pleased with it actually. :D I can finally see the end of the basic pic coming closer!

...but I'm not looking forward to the backstitching, the gold thread and the beads... I've never done gold thread and beading... well, I did a bit of gold thread in a small blackwork project, but that is my total experience with it and it wasn't all joy...!

You'll be fine, Fljots -- just take your time over it and don't feel nervous about it (beads can sense your fear... :-)). And plenty of Thread heaven for your metallics seems to be the general advice!
Something else about the beads, decide beforehand whether you want to attach them the quick and easy way (half cross stitches) or the thorough and secure way (loop start so you work with a double stranded thread, half cross stitch, then complete the cross stitchwith one strand going either side of the bead). I've found the former fine for cards and so on, but for anything more permanent I think I'd go for the thorough option.

Looking great! I have a Teresa Wentzler book, but I"ve never been brave enough to try one. So many combo threads, beads, etc. Maybe one day . . .

Thanks, eveyone! :D

I just checked my first post in this thread - Oct 2008 - and I reckon I'll have the basic design complete before the end of June this year. Not bad, considering I stopped work for the Christmas stuff I did. :D

Wandatoo - yes, it's time consuming, and fiddly, I have to admit. I've only ever done one Teresa Wentzler before, and that was on 14ct aida which was much easier (not that I thought so at the time! ) However, as this one has grown I've got more and more comfortable with all the quarter stitches, and blending isn't really a problem: it just adds a little time to the stitching. Why not check out the smaller TW designs? I have a lovely little TW dragon design waiting to be done, for a needle case. :D

But I have a much bigger dragon project waiting for me first.

Hi. I have only just joined the forum and homed in on this thread because I have only just opened ny kit of The Storyteller (mine is an original Leisure Arts production, not the later Janlynn offering of the same kit), to find five bundles of silks but no floss card listing telling me what colours I should have and how many strands of each! As I have already before spend gargantuan amounts of time trying - not always successfully - to sort similar unidentified bundles from other kits, I'm hoping someone on this forum who has already started this kit (or at least opened and studied the package) can tell me there really is a floss card list and might be able to photocopy theirs for me (all expenses refunded of course). My fingers are crossed!
