Congratulations, Mabel, the sampler is just perfect, and the box is lovely. You should become a designer, really.

Today was nearly all me-time -- luxury  !I decided to dedicate most of it to finishing the Lustrum hardanger.

I've been finding it rather difficult partly because it is on 28ct black fabric with threads that are a little on the thick side for it, but mostly because the Vikki Clayton perles are proving to be a bit annoying to work with.

Unlike any of the other perles I've worked with so far (or perle substitutes like Caron Watercolours) these fluff up and shed bits of very fine fibre all over the work, all the more noticeable of course as it's cream on black. The fluffiness also made it extremely difficult to do the cutting without snipping the perle.

Having said that, I like the cream on black and am pleased with how it's stitching up, but if I ever do this version again it will be with different threads!

Here is the stitching complete before cutting -- I have since done the cutting and have started the woven bars (all the while listening to a courtroom drama on audiobook), and hope to post a pic of the completed project tonight :x: !

Lustrum is finished   -- in spite of the annoying silk :-)

Thanks all! I want to keep these "model stitches" of my own designs, not make them into cards or anything, but I thought it would be good to hem them in some way to make them more durable, so I finished it with four-sided edging in black perle #12:

I also made a start on my Percival design, this uses Caron Watercolours (and later Wildflowers) shade Shenandoah on moss green 25ct Lugana. I wasn't sure whether it would work but it picks up on the green in the thread like I hoped it would *phew*. Here's where I am so far:

It will have Petite Treasure Braid in a rainbow white shade and also white beads.
