Well, due to a stressful situation today I really needed time to relax so I spent a lot of time cross stitching today. (My little sister's school went on lock down because they found a student who brought several rounds of ammunition to school who intended to use them with a conspirator who was said to have brought a gun. The gun and the student who allegedly brought it was never found. No one was injured and the school did a great job of diffusing the situation.)
I managed to get a lot of stitching done, though I did need and took many breaks.
there are only a couple rows worth of stitches below the lowest section that was stitched and only a few columns worth of stitches to the right of the black curved line. Of course, there's plenty more rows to the left of what I've stitched, but I really feel like I am getting close to done.

Beautiful progress on your stitching!
I'm so glad nothing bad happened at the school. Things are really getting out of hand lately, and it's damned depressing. Makes me want to sit the parents down and find out just exactly WHY they firearms supplies stored in a manner that was accessible to a child!
Oh crap. I see my soapbox sliding toward me. Time to shut up.

I can't believe I haven't noticed this lovely thing before! It's beautiful, and so is your stitching - I wish I was as neat! I've just run through this whole thread to see your update pics.
I'm so sorry about the school situation, it must have been so scary

I'm so glad we don't have that appalling gun law in the uk! We get enough problems without every other maniac owning a gun...

This is just so beautiful! The colors, your perfect stitching, and the back is so neat!
That is terrible about your sisters school...I'm so glad no one was hurt and the school diffused it quickly. I would have been terrified.

I don't understand what you mean about your gun laws - are you not allowed to own them?
EDIT: I just googled my own question. Sounds the UK (excluding Ireland) has really tight control - tightest in the world, actually. AND you have the lowest number of violent gun crime in the world. AND people can still have sporting guns, within reason. Sounds awesome to me. And I was floored to read that the police force doesn't carry firearms either - AND you have the lowest number of deaths of police officers world wide. That's amazing.

Great job of stitching! This gets more beautiful with each update. I think I'm repeating myself but it is so true.

every time I hear about something like the incident at your sister's school I am shocked, even though I shouldn't be, I guess. Really and truly. After seeing the news about the fertilizer plant explosion in Texas yesterday, I'm considering time off from watching the news, even though that one is a tragic accident. Every once in a while it's nice to be uninformed. (If its bad enough you'll hear about it somewhere else). I'm glad that this one was handled quickly and well. Sounds like other students must have reported it to a teacher or the principal and maybe the co-conspirator got some sense all of a sudden and didn't show up or left the weapon at home.

What a scary situation!!!

It shocks me how crazy things seem to be lately in regard to children and teens and what they're doing and thinking.
The update is lovely.

They never used to carry guns. But since 9/11 some were authorised to do so. First time I saw one, it was a bloody big thing and totally scary

We are not used to guns in the uk!
Apologies for dragging this thread off-topic
