Re: 2020 Forum Word Game
bottom
(Foggy Bottom is a district of Washington DC. I used to drive through a 'Pratts Bottom' while going to Biggin Hill airport while I worked there, and live near a mudflat called 'Bedlams Bottom' on the N Kent coast, so 'Bottom' is a fairly common place name. Unlike the Devon place name of 'Sheepwash')

rump.
In Hampshire there's a village called Lower Upham. Whenever we drove through it my Grandad used to ask if there was an Upper Downham!

steak
One of my favourite place names remains Catbrain. I got DH to do a detour once to go and see it. It wasn't worth it.

Bats.
The UK is full of strangely named villages.
There is a place in Somerset called Nempnet Thrubwell ...we went to look and, like Catbrain, it wasn't worth the trouble!Mabel Figworthy wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 12:39 pm steak

Cricket
I loved the name of a Somerset Village 'Huish Episcopi'
Often rode past it on my motorcycle going to/from Bristol, and also 'Much Wenlock', which I often mis-read as 'Much Wedlock'.
Regards,
Richard
