Oh my you are making such fast progress! I lament that I stitch so slowly lol. It looks fabulous.
Myst..
Re: JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection
Wow. Seeing the progress you've made so far is staggering. It's really amazing what you've got done so far in what looks to be a complicated stitch. I see that you are gridding as well. Is that just done with a pencil?
Re: JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection
With no job, no internet, and no cable, and no school for a week and a half I've had few distractions. I've had a few days where I just sat around and stitched all day.
No complicated stitching, at least not yet. Quite a lot of the tree background is in half stitch, but most of the wolf is in full. Then there are a few symbols that have 3 pr 4 strands instead of two.
I gridded with a sewing pen. I think mark be gone? It was a bit pricey, I think $5, but I tested a few washable markers and they didn't come off nearly as well. Its kind of dying with this one, the QS, and the big HAED I gridded, but I was also fairly hard on it with this one until I realized don't need to be super duper dark.
The gridding is an initial time investment, but I'd never do without it now. Gridding the 400 x 500 was a several hour project though.
I think everyone thinks they stitch slowly. I've looked at other people's progress on here and thought I did, and now you're saying I stitch quickly so who knows?

Oh no Corey do not use a regular pencil to grid you will never get the lines out. Trust me this is the voice of experience talking.Corey.G wrote:Wow. That's very interesting Rose. I would never have thought pencil would be something you couldn't get rid of.
Re: JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection
Yeah I never thought that either. I still have the piece and everytime I look at it I get mad all over again.

Re: JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection
I would definitely say the $5 is worth it for the sewing marker. I also have a purple disappearing ink one, but the trouble with that is that it disappears.
For any marker you have I'd suggest making a small mark on some scrap fabric. Get a q-tip and some water and see how easily it comes out. The blue mark be gone comes right out, and I couldn't say that for any other supposedly washable markers. Its also helpful if you make a mistake charting.
Looking at the big picture I think I'm done with the first tree to the left of the wolf. =)

Re: JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection
Have you thought of getting a piece of professional Art Eraser? It's the best thing I know for getting rid of pencil marks completely and without damage to PAPER, but I have never used it on fabric and I don't have any at the moment to test it out; but it might be worth trying, do you think? More expensive than ordinary eraser, but even so not really pricey. The two best kinds are: the 'putty' art eraser which is soft and pliable, and you pull bits off it to use and chuck away when dirtied, and the very crumbly, softish art erasor.Rose wrote:Yeah I never thought that either. Re: JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection
That might have worked when it first happened about 4 years ago. By now though I am just live with it. It is a small Christmas decoration so I actually only see it when I decorate my tree and I usually put it in an area where It is least noticable. Plus the kids tell me it is not even that noticable when you look at it.Fljotsdale wrote:Have you thought of getting a piece of professional Art Eraser? Re: JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection
Your work is coming along nicely.
Congrats on the baby. When I was pregnant with my last one, I managed to stitch her birth announcement and a simple Home Sweet Home piece then the trouble started for me and I couldn't even stitch
Now she is one and again will not let me stitch because she wants my attention. I tried to do some with her in my lap but she just plays with my floss and fabric so I have to wait until she is asleep or playing with one of the other kids. The HAEDs you have choosen are beautiful and I cannot wait to see a thread for them.

The colours in this design are beautiful. I love wolf designs, but have never got around to stitching one! The HAED of the cat is gorgeous too, love those blues!
