Slinky's Stitching 2010 - Hardanger Doily Finished for Xmas!

What kind of scissors are you using for the cutwork--they are doing a great job!! Oh and what count fabric is the doily on?

Thankyou for your kind words . I use bog standard Fiskars scissors, but I am rather particular that they are ONLY used for threads so they stay nice and sharp. My beloved family ruined a previous pair last year by using them to cut open the nylon 'bag' the Christmas tree came packed in!!

As for the fabric count, I think it's 28ct evenweave.

The de Morgan tiles have come out beautiful, the blues look lovely; the Hardanger is coming on well too, your picots are so regular! What method do you use?

I wasn't aware there are different 'methods' for doing picots!! I asked a lady at a craft fair I went to on holiday this summer to show me how she did it (she was doing Hardanger at the time) and she made it seem quite easy. I couldn't begin to describe it in words tho. Not unlike French knots actually. Thank you, anyway!

I've been thinking about Rose's thread 'Are you Satisfied?' about the amount of stitching we've all got through this year, and I took a look back at my Slinky's Stitching thread to see what I did last year, compared to this.

So I think I will rename this thread Slinky's Stitching 2010 and make a list of all the projects I have completed this year as a reference if nothing else. And start a new one next month. Next month, it's 2011!!!!

After much needleweaving and careful cutting, I have finished the Octagonal doily in time for Christmas, which is as well since I am planning to give it to my Mum on Christmas Day.

Here it is almost finished, just a bit more cutting to do,


This is it finished but not cut away from the fabric,


And this is it all done and dusted!!
