i've worked on this on and off since october, and here is the result:

backstitching on top half, some stitching on the bottom center panel.

i'm doing the 10hr rotation thing and finding it helpful. i shan't compare myself w/faster stitchers anymore, because i get upset w/myself...

anyway, now i'm on to my penguin christmas ornaments for the next 10hrs of stitching, then back to my HAED, then back to this one.

thanks for looking, and for all your encouragement throughout, to me and to everyone. it's most helpful.

This is beautiful!!! It looks like you do your back-stitching as you go along. I never thought about that but it's a good idea so you don't have to do it all at the end!
Way to go on such a big project!

I'm so glad you're persevering with this one because it is well worth it. I am thinking of doing the 10 hour rotation.

This is such an unusual one, vibrant colours for some things and softer colours for others. You are making excellent progress with it and especially with all that back stitching. :cake: :coffee: and a :applesauce: well done.

thanks, everyone! :D your comments make me so happy ...

calico, i never thought to do the backstitching early before joining this forum. i saw some SALs tho, and thought it was a good idea. the BS is so tedious! but provides so much detail, that it's a real boost to keep going on the big projects.

tiff, i didn't know they were goldfinches! i like them, too!

liz, the 10hr rotation is working for me so far. halfway through the ornaments, then on to the HAED SK. (feels like i'm flying and i have so much purpose.)

my intention here is to finish stitching the center panel, then BS it before moving on to the smaller side panels...

I think they are, that's what they look like to me, and that kind of looks like a finch feeder, although finch usually have niger seed, not yellow seed. But the yellow looks better in the pattern. :)

Good luck meeting your goals on this one and glad to hear the rotation is working for you. :)
