This really is quite beautiful. You are making a wonderful job of her, especially the 'over one' sections.

I am intrigued about your choice to use silks. They look rather wonderful and you have the shading spot-on, espcially on the flesh tones which Mirabilia do so well. Did you have much trouble converting from DMC shades?

The conversion took me a bit. I first had to find and select a silk that I liked. They are very different in the sheen. Once I did that this I used a conversion chart for a starting point, then spent about two hours at the shop working and mixing and matching. The real trouble came in the dyelots....they are impossible to match and are very inconsistent even within the dye lot. The pattern didn't note how many skeins so it was a pure guess which was completely wrong on the greens plus my shop closed up so I ended up having to blend some other silks to get the same color. Luckily the it's very patchie so it worked and no one can tell.

I love working with the silks but between the big cost differential and the dyelot issue I'm not sure I'd do one of this size in silk again.

The silks do look so very classy for this project but oh what a lot of work to get the conversions sorted so you could stitch her. You are doing such a great job. :applesauce:

Alyson it looks wonderful. I have sean this stiched in standed cotten, but it's not a patch on vibrancy that you get with silks.

I must say it looks very special :applesauce:
