Oh mabel, I've been given some wadding to try. I've never used that before either. Is it effective?

Very effecive, though unfortunately it doesn't really show up in photographs; it makes your stitching stand out more, I find, and it looks rather neatly finished.
I sort of found out as I went along that you need to cut the wadding slightly smaller than the aperture, or it'll just look bloated and won't stick down properly. But when it works, it looks great.

Oh I must have a try of that as well now then.
Any other tips before I try it or is that the main thing to consider?

I think that's about it, but do jump in anyone else with tips! Also, 2oz wadding is as much as my cards seem to be able to take, and even that is a bit of a squash now that I've bought some fresh stuff rather than using an old inherited bit of wadding which had obviously become flattened over the years
threadbear, one picture which does show the effect a bit (though it's slightly distorted because of the camera being a bit too close) is my turtle card.

Oh yes, I can see that now.
I really like that Mabel, I must try it, it looks really good.

Thank you!:D
I really liked fraying once I got started, but I was so nervous as I really did have visions of starting to fray and then it all coming off and being impossible to control and me desperately hanging on, trying to keep the stitching together!!

Had that once when fraying evenweave... Yes, it is possible to push some of the threads back into some sort of acceptable shape, but it isn't conducive to sanity!~threadbear~ wrote:I really did have visions of starting to fray and then it all coming off and being impossible to control and me desperately hanging on, trying to keep the stitching together!!
