Love your choices for North Carole - Lavender Mist is one of my (many) faves.......I wonder why :D . I can only further confirm that Mabel's recommendations are spot on as ever :D :-D

Beautiful! I haven't tried Hardanger yet, but seeing all of your work and Mabel's designs, I am sooooo tempted.

And I love your furry aide...I especially like the one of her laying on your hoop...looks like she is giving you a bit of the stink eye. I think having furry assistants/supervisors just makes our work so much more challenging and therefore more rewarding. :-)

Miss Laverne is as busy as usual I see and so helpful too, bless her. Was Miss Shirley being a perfect lady and letting you stitch that gorgeous piece without help?

:applesauce: :applesauce: Love your North Carole and those colours are scrumptuous. for sure. Might just have to do something about those threads - but next year. This year I need to get saving a bit for m y trip south for a part of the family Christmas. :applesauce: :applesauce:

It's Morning now!!

Image

I really enjoyed stitching this one. I love the Y-bars. And I am surprising myself with how confident I am now about the cutting! I am pretty much going to stick to the same colors so that there is a kind of similarity between each set of rounds and then if my DD, DIL, and GD want to trade among themselves (if they prefer all of one color group, for example) it will be easier. But since I am now on a binge of Pearl thread collecting (Weeks Dye Works on the way and I've been eyeing those Threadworx skeins also  ) I'm sure to be doing more.

My other pieces are starting to whine, but I keep telling them, Christmas Gifts have to come first!

Thanks for looking.

Thank you so much everyone for your lovely and encouraging comments. I am more than 1/2 way there with Winter. This design definitely seemed to interest my girls. Maybe because we have been having a cold spell (for us)?

And the third season
Image
I did the x bars as they were stitched in the picture rather than as they are in the chart. I thought it gave a bit more of a snow flake look. I also have been improving on getting those little nubs (I don't know what you call them) of fabric after cutting tucked away more neatly. They annoy me. Kind of like an itch that has to be scratched.

Now I am on to "Night"

Thanks for looking!

Brave lady! I originally charted them like that then realised it was making the filling stitches rather difficult... As you've found it is possible but I thought I'd better give stitchers a more convenient option :-)
Love that blue for Winter

I did wonder why the instructions were different since you do point out the difference but didn't say why. The only difficulty I found was bringing the thread through the bars to get from one filling stitch to the next one. I think in one of the SOW charts you suggested using a size 28 needle and with the help of a tweezer to pull the needle through the back of the bar I didn't have any problems.
As I said, the x bars seem to give the piece a more lacy, snow flaky look to me.
