As Ziggy is less than a year old...do you still qualify for free prescriptions? Therefore I would guess if you do then eye tests would be free too. Worth enquiring.
If I'm wrong then feel free to hang me from the largest needlework frame!!

She sounds a real little poppet and full of life! Enjoy!

Glad Ziggy is over her upset but as you say Angel it was not meant but unfortunate & probably due to over excitement. Your little girl is a brave one to go for the toughest boy in the new play group :D

Angel wrote:Oh the little boys mum was mortified! But even though they've not been coming that long I can work it out in my head. He loves Ziggy, he goes running over to her and covers her in kisses when he arrives. She in turn hugs him and then they rough and tumble, she's not dainty, she will push him over to get to something she wants andd equally she won't become hysterical when he pushes her over to do the same so they're really happy together. He gets very excited and will just wrap his arms around her and squeeze while kissing, which she will tolerate to an extent then throw him off her I reckon that's when he bit her. He got so happy and excited to be with her that he bit instead of kissed. She's still got the bruises, the bites were pretty nasty bites, but the cause for them wasn't malicious. I get that and sent the mum a message through a mutual friend afterwards to tell her that Ziggy is fine and there's no ill feelings towards her or her son and I look forward to seeing them this week. They're only babies and the worst bit for me was that Ziggy just sat there completely at a loss for what to do. She's never experianced anything like that before and she felt so hurt and betrayed. But her best friend did wonders, we started a new playgroup today and she was happy, confident and completely back to her normal self. Found the most boisterous little boy in the room and decided that he's her friend lol I do believe her friend is getting a present to say thank you though :P

Eye tests are free? Where? They're £25 at boots! And that's without glasses or contact lenses.
Check out "free eye test on NHS" to see if you qualify. Of course, if you lived in Scotland, they would be free. (We may have rotten roads, but we have free eye tests!) Actually, you just have to be a UK resident to get a free eye test in Scotland... Don't all rush at once!

Annoyingly, my maternity exemption certificate doesn't cover eyes. No free eye test, no free glasses. The logic behind it being that the exemption protects you against things related to having a baby. In that respect it was a godsend as I would have spent a fortune! Hypermesis damaged my teeth through constant sickness, I was on two anti-sickness medications and pain relief through perscription...then I've suffered with mastitis 7 times since giving birth and J had oral thrush which she kindly passed onto me....so that's what the certificate is meant to cover, but they can't stipulate only x,y,z so you just get a flat cover in those areas. Since eyesight isn't generally affected by having a child, it's not covered.

So in order to get free eyesight checks I'd have to travel to Scotland...Do you think I could start going on holiday to Scotland every summer and just get an annual check then? lolI think the cost of getting to Scotland just for an eye test might make it a bit more expensive than just paying lol

I had a steroid injection into my dodgy knee last week but it got worse instead of better. Then, a blistery, painful rash appeared around the knee and up the back of my leg. I was worried it was an infection, but oh no, I've got flippin' shingles. On my knee! Shingles

Still, at least I get some extra crafting time, as it's painful to walk on so I can't go to work.

Shingles anywhere is Not Nice!! Poor you Carole!
I hope stitching helps to distract you a bit. At least I can send a  as it doesn't involve the more usual areas.

Don't envy you Shingles. They HURT. It's strange how the Chickenpox virus can lurk in a nerve sheath for years undetected and then become re-activated for no apparent reason, just affecting the area served by the infected nerve.

I had Chickenpox three times as a brat, so am a prime candidate for shingles. Hope they can be avoided.

My sympathy goes out to you,

Richard.

 and hopes that it clears up quickly! I used to worry a lot about the fact that I never had chicken pox as a child (nor mumps nor measles, though I did have scarlet fever ) and would catch it from one of the kids. Now I'm hoping that will keep me from getting shingles. Try to focus on your crafts as much as possible and come here as often as you need to for the best TLC around!

I hope you get better soon Carole, I hope you get some comfort from your crafts, I too am off work at the moment with my dodgy hips and am having some difficulty standing for long periods, so I thank goodness I have my sit down hobbies to fall back on!

I was a bit surprised two weeks ago to be told by the hip specialist that I'm to be referred to the Children's Hospital for hip dysplasia, I'm 41 years old, its kind of an odd situation as I need an operation, but as my hips have no arthritis they do not want to do a hip replacement and I'm too young for it anyway, so I'm in with the little one's to possibly have an operation to move my leg bone to its correct position or something similar.
I'm a little upset because my mum knew I had this problem, it was diagnosed when I was a baby and she only told me last year despite me having low back pain and hip issues throughout my 20's, she told me the doctors said it was a mild case so did nothing to fix it, but still I don't understand why she took so long to tell me, I could've gone to the doctors long ago and maybe prevented the pain and upcoming surgery and months of recuperation too :(

Oh no! Maybe you'll feel up to stitching during recuperation. (Don't let any of those kids tease you!)

I've got to have an echocardiogram tomorrow morning, so may come into the ward for a nice, quiet lie down afterwards and perhaps a cup of :tea: before I go home. The pre-op assessment for my trapeziectomy showed a heart murmur, so the operation has been cancelled for the time being while I get checked out. I admit to feeling a little apprehensive.

 :tea: It's amazing just how many people find out they have heart murmurs as they get older. Try not to worry! :)

I agree! There are so many things that doctors can find now with ever improving technology. I know several people with heart murmurs, some of whom are very active. I'm sure the procedure is a precaution before doing any type of surgery. Everything will be ready for you here when you are done. Would you like anything special with your tea?
