My material for my SSMC HAED arrived last week! Loving the colour and softness.
This week I cut it to size and calmed myself down by showing my brain just how much I had to Stitch. Then I hand stitched the edges with the overlock stitch using some left over threads from my sister's wedding reception table numbers. Currently gridding it with some fishing line!
And today when I popped home for lunch some of my threads had arrived!
Getting excited. Just had to share... blurry photos and all.
Do I really have to be back at work?

Just a quick froggy update after a weekend of stitching. Thankfully no frogs have visited.
Have found I'm doing a version of Extreme Cross Country (without moving the qsnaps). Choosing next colours by completing frogs rather than by number of stitches per colour. I took 4 photos of the one A3 page design and am working my way through the frogs on the bottom left hand page.
I am 14 stitches short of a complete frog! and all the backstitching!!!
Still got to add 1 1/2 more frogs at the top but will have to move the snaps for them.

This is looking really great and has lots of lovely colours in it too. You are making great progress with it and I am glad that the other sort of frogs have stayed away too.

Have you stitched on Jobelan before? I only ask because I use 28ct Jobelan for my HAEDs and when you stitch over 1 on it, the thread can slip under the weave of the fabric so that the stitch “disappearsâ€. The way round that is to do each full cross in turn rather than //// then \\\\. Other forum members might have other ways of doing it. It’s not a problem and please don’t let it put you off - I just wanted to make sure you’re aware of it before you start. Can’t wait to see your updates!
Thanks for the headsup. I had seen ppl mention that about the jobelan before.
I've only done a test patch on some Jobelan. Currently working on Hardinger and it occassionally does the same thing. Especially when changing direction. When that happens, I've just been doing the occassional continental? tent stitch first as a base and then doing the top cross. Does that make sense?
I felt comfortable enough on the hardinger for the first time, so reasoned I would still be able to adapt to the Jobelan.
Will try a few more test patches before I start in earnest, to see what technique works for me.
Thanks again.

Joanna, this may help - if you do find threads slipping, even when doing complete crosses, look at the weave before making your first half stitch, and see which fabric thread is on top, the vertical or the horizontal. Then the dotted lines in the picture below show the "safe" lines of travel to the second half of the cross stitch:
