Hehehe that's so weird, me and my boyfriend were sitting there singing that while we were winding my bobbins!!

Do you mean those nice men in white coats who carry those jiffy shirts with the very long arm sleeves they "help" you put on? hmmmm....

was having a night mare winding bobbins last night as they kept knotting. to solve this problem i put the skein round my wrist like you would a bracelet. no more nots and quick winding. anyone else do this?

That is how I usually do it, it helps loads!!!!

No need: I've got a willing DH to manipulate the skein for me.

Think I'm a little behind here, but I'll add my info anyway.... I have a complete set of DMC and Anchor and I used to wind all my skeins onto bobbins and store in boxes. The only problem was when I came to the ends of kits and little leftover bits of thread. I found I had nowhere to store them until I found this....

Now I keep all my threads in little ziploc bags on rings. They take up less space than all my boxes and are convenient for keeping all the different skeins, odd ends and leftover thread from kits in one place. Each colour has its own bag and is clearly labelled. No more mess and more stitching!

Those are neat! i just wind the tag ends back on the bobbins..use them next time first..

for kits i punch holes in cardboard from cereal boxes..usually the side panels..skinny pieces, and put the floss from kits on those

managed to get 80 done only doing the anchor ones as theres some i dont know the brand. plus i have 6 dmc ones but i prefer the anchor as they feel softer or their older i dont know

I make my own cards, too. I don't use bobbins--just leave the skein like it is but I'm really starting to reconsider it. For projects that are just patterns (like the fractal bookmark I'm doing now), I use notecards. I like to have the colors and symbols written out with my threads, so I cut a couple of lengths and put them through holes I've punched in the notecard.

i was like that leaving them whole a week in with the help of cats it started so out came the bobbins

tattyted, That's how I keep all my threads as well! I found that I could keep my threads that I was actually using on a ring for my project, and the others in a small box with the rest of my stitching.

This is what works best for me...The only thing I need now is new labels for them!

If anyone is looking for new bags, they stopped producing them from what I can tell. So I just went to my craft store and bought small ones for beads and such. The bags are exactly the same, except they don't have a hole for the rings... And that is easily solved with a simple hole puncher!

So... Go Me, Go Me!

You have no idea how pleased I was to come up with a new place to get bags from...

i have always just stored them in a needlework box but recently I put all mine onto bobbins and don't regret it at all, it makes things so much easier and i have them all stored neatly in colour order
