Re: Garnet's pieces for Christmas - There I've said it out l

Post by Garnet »

Well, life took a funny turn complete with wrong new glasses, Cataracts, leaky boiler and broken washing machine, so I am not as far along as I would like to be, although the crossstitching on Grumpy Santa is finished.

Complete, without backstitching

and......

POP!

I still need to cut him out, stuff him (!) and add beads and charms, but that will have to wait for now while I get on with WH

The backstitching makes such a difference.
It always surprises me, don't know why. Every piece looks good without, and then even better with, and I never anticipate the difference. Silly really.

Grumpy Santo doesn't look Grumpy any more to me - just slightly put upon (and wouldn't you feel that way if a teddy bear was using you as a climbing frame in a bid for freedom?). Nice finish, and sorry about life crashing in on you.

Regards,

Richard.

Ooohh, he's lovely, love the teddy too  Backstitch makes all the difference, now you can see all the little extras this chart took you to do. Looking forward to seeing more or your makes as they re colourful & nicely worked. (Won't say how many sleeps until the BIG day yet, too many to count, ha ha).

Sorry about your cataracts. Had mine hanging around for about 20 yrs & they're still not big enough. Few years ago 2 neighbours had theirs done & all went well once after effects of treatment wore off. Hope you can get leaky boiler sorted out.

Love the verse Wendy very apt well done for that :applesauce: :applesauce:

He is totally fab. And once he's all finished up, he can join the others. These are really special.

Wendy & Serinde, you had me @rotfl: @rotfl: @rotfl: at that verse, thank you, I really needed that.

Thanks for all your lovely comments, as for life, well, I just keep on plodding on.

@ Richard, I have a question, how would having a teddy bear climbing on one's back in a bid for freedom be any different from the cats using you as a climbing frame ?

Thank you Daisychain, backstitch does make such a difference doesn't it, and I fully agree far too many sleeps to mention

How about a middle 8:

Christmas comes but once a year I'm told
turning silks all red and green and gold

so pack up all your cares and woe
Keep your stitching on the go
Backstitch, bye bye!

Quite right. Main difference being that Teddy doesn't dig his claws in...

Richard - hmm both are cuddly but :kitty: are warm although I wouldn't like to try to stuff one into this Santa's sack  and you are quite right about the claws.

Yesterday as I was leaving the supermarket a guy was loading his shopping into his car and had one of those giant Teddies under his arm, instead of putting it into the boot, he sat him in the front passenger seat and even put the seatbelt on @rotfl:

Lyudmila, thank you, there's still more to do to make him up, I don't have a sewing machine so there will be a lot of handsewing to finish him.

Maureen, Santa is absolutely gorgeous and he is going to look awesome when he has all the bells and whistles done too. Just wish we lived nearer I could lend you my sewing machine.

I enjoyed all the poetry going through the thread too. Thanks a lot dear friends - it has brightened my day considerably..

This is one special Father Christmas, Maureen :D All the backstitch was well worth the effort.

Love these Garnet. Neatly stitched as always :applesauce: :applesauce: It is a cheerful time of year with reds & greens in Xmas cards & ornaments.

I have Dimensions Christmas tree ornaments to stitch but they will have to wait until next year. Am behind with my stitching but next year I am not going to take on so much outside the home. Just stay with 2 mornings at charity shop & only occasionally help out on a Saturday morning with local activates.

Looking forward to seeing your next makes :D

:applesauce: :applesauce: Love that Santa! And like Richard, I am also someone who is amazed when the outlining brings the design into more focus, since I think it looks great before.
