Celebrate :whoop: !

(We had Café Church this morning followed by Open Gardens in the next village so we have had enough pastries and cake to last us a week, but I'll have a celebratory cup of tea please)

A Stash & Grab Public Service Announcement

If you are in the UK and eligible, please remember to take the correct photo ID with you to your local polling station!

And do come in for a cup of something today. Pet the unicorns, sit up in the treehouse and watch the swans, forget about politics! No disclosing how you voted, however, cuz that's against the law until polls close. Anyway, nobody here cares, but (as the official bar person) I only hope you do vote (or have voted in other ways) -- massive privilege and responsibility.

All done. The lady checking my driving license mis-read it and thought my middle name was my surname. And as it didn't match the polling card, she objected for a second or two until I showed that they were the same.

Richard

Ahhhhhhhh, someone has mentioned "it". I need a stiff coffee to recover.

I posted mine back weeks ago as I refuse to faff around with ID.

I need a coffee. I've just set out all the colours for a small piece I intend to weave this evening. Who knew alstroemerias had so many colours? Think I might get "Indian sunset" for the garden.

Our local polling station had a steady stream of voters, no issues with ID (tho hate having to show it; hammer to crack not so much a nut as a pea). First time I've voted in a British GE, so the scones are on me!

DH sent in his postal vote last week as we are in the Netherlands. I of course, can't vote in a General Election wherever I am, being just a poor foreigner... Hoping to watch some of the swingometer tonight!

Hope you feel a bit reassured as a poor foreigner this morning. Obtaining citizenship has proved to be useful for me, though I am still to get a passport. (Not sure why I'd need one, as I don't fly anymore, but you never know where a train might take you, I guess.)

Good news: Eldest Son has bought a flat! Huzzah!

Bad news: He's going to take away the chest of drawers in which all my threads and fabric are stored. Oh, noes!

To be fair, the article had previously been in his room and I always said he could have it when he needed it. Rather nice Victorian piece with a mirror that attaches. I'm sure you've seen the sort. As his flat was built about 1890, it will fit right in. Meanwhile, all my bits will be moved to a large plastic box under the bed.

I need a studio.

Sounds like a good excuse to buy yourself something really nice to put your stash in. :D

My Cross stitch stash already needs 5 large really useful boxes  But at least one of those is full of frames and another with kits that I have prepared to start by enlarging the charts ... So it is not as bad as it first sounds, that my excuse and I am sticking to it

Jo, great idea... although we are trying to get stuff OUT of the house. What really need to happen is for Younger Son to find a flat he can afford to at least rent!

Mabel, what a lovely sentiment. I hope so, too.

I spent World Embroidery Day doing weaving… as you do. Actually, I’m in deepest darkest Suffolk with family, and it’s HOT, though I refuse to complain since there’s a lot of enjoyment to be had being able to eat outside in the shade and enjoying long evenings with no midges.
