They're so detailed -- great!

But... how can you tell they're French?

I saw a Margaret Sherry version in a mag recently, and her three hens wore berets and carried baguettes under their wings :-).

He he, they're not noticeably French, are they? I was tempted to give them red, white and blue striped combs!

Day 4 - Calling Birds......
Image

Has anyone noticed that 6 of the days have birds on them? I hadn't thought about it until I started stitching this. Anyway, 5 Gold Rings is next so I've something different to do!

You're really flying through this!

*just realises that what with all the birds she may be accused of a bad pun*

These are going so fast. What is the finished size of the pattern? If you already said sorry to ask again

I simply love it! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: Now, I think I will be able to do it because Lisa is sending me the magazine  - but will have to save it for next year, won't have time now.

Rose, the finished design is 18 x 14 inches.

Agi, I'm sure you'll love stitching this if you get time to do it next year - each box is like a little individual project. It's just the huge border I'm not looking forward to - full of holly with dozens of french knots! If I was you though, I would recommend not using Anchor Reflecta gold metallic thread where the pattern tells you and finding an alternative, because it's HORRIBLE to work with! I'm persevering because I've already done quite a lot with it, but I shan't be using it in the future.

Do beads instead of the pesky french knots!

Mmm, I'd love too - I've already done dozens of knots though so I suppose I'll have to continue in the same vein. There are going to be lots of gold beads on this though, when I've finished with the stitching. I doubt I'll have this done for this Christmas now - we're nearly into November already and even if I got the stitching done, no chance of getting it framed. Never mind, I'm enjoying doing it.

Well, I had a week's break from this while I did some of my koi, but picked it up again tonight. This pic is Friday night's progress. We stayed up until 1am watching bad Halloween movies and me stitching, so I got lots done! I decided to do most of the outlines of the boxes so I can see better where I'm going......

Here's the next update on this - 5 days done now! There are some gaps in the rings which are spaces for adding gold beads.
