Re: Where do you keep your needles?
anyehere a needle isn't supposed to go..in my mouth when sewing, in the couch cushion whilst working but having a short break ( have been known to sit on a few, I do not recommend this) and once I lost one in the carpet and found it in my foot with the string hanging out so I drove to the hospital, it was in my heel, hobbled in with the string still attached ( i dont like to waste thread
) and had to get it removed.
I can see the same happening one day with the needle in mouth trick..I'll rock up to the hospital with needle in stomach or caught on a tonsil.
The most unfortunate thing is my local hospital I just happen to work at.

Can't remember, bought them a while back. Will let you know if I see them again. It's either Morrison or Tesco

Re: Where do you keep your needles?
I use a pako needle organiser. I cant imagine doing a large project without one. In fact I am using 2 at the moment as my current project has 90 colours and with the needle organiser you can keep a needle threaded with every colour.

Re: Where do you keep your needles?
I just bought a Loran magnetic needle case, but I was a bit disappointed when I opened it because the only thing magnetic about it is a strip of magnet on the back. What I was using and might go back to is a couple of pieces of magnetic strip together with the needles in between.

Re: Where do you keep your needles?
I made my own mini pin cushion and keep it there when I'm working on my project. It's really easy to put it in and take it out, and it keeps it in one spot. I then keep the ones I'm not using in a plastic case made for needles.
Hope that helps!

Re: Where do you keep your needles?
Hi, I haven't been posting here very long, and I was just going thru some threads for suggestions.....
I am making myself a cross stitch and fabric "book", with a place to keep needles on one side and on the other side a place for my embroidery scissors.
I am constantly looking for the scissors or the needle....MAYBE this little book will help me keep up with my "tools".
I actually found the idea online, but I had some ideas about changing up parts of it, so I'm just sort of winging it to come up with my own book with my personal preferences.
When I get it finished I'll try to post a pic of it but I have just started on it so it's going to be awhile.

Re: Where do you keep your needles?
i'm a magnet user too when i have multiple needles in play during a large piece when i use the parking method. i have gotten into some much simpler pieces that don't require parking so i just use one needle. i typically just pierce the cloth i'm working on to keep the needle handy. everything goes in a ziploc baggie so even if it does come out, it will be in the baggie.
however, i have dropped many a needle on the floor while in the process of changing threads. sometimes i find them and sometimes i don't. i worry about our bare feet but more so the dogs' feet because they might not tell me they are hurt!

Re: Where do you keep your needles?
I actually use several methods. If I have clipped the thread and will be using it shortly again I just slip it threaded into the bobbin. If the needle empties and I know I will be using it shortly again the quilted mat on my side table becomes a pin cushion, up to 3 or 4 needles. Any more get thrown into a compartment in a smaller than regular bobbin box into the compartment with the magnetic needle minder. I have the project threads in this same box. I never gave it any thought, it just evolved into this workable solution for me. If I drop a needle I sweep the area with the magnetic wand so it doesn't go astray for long.

Re: Where do you keep your needles?
I too use a magnet to hold my needles, but nothing fancy. A few monthes ago one of my fridge magnets feel and broke and kept that round magnet and use it to hold my needles and scissors. If I drop a needle I'll sweep the area with the magnet and it has yet to not find the needle. The this way, when I pack my project to take it somewhere I just grab the magnet with normally three neddles on it and just throw it in the bag. Makes it really easy to find the needles in the bag and almost never fall off as the magnet is quite strong yet (it was a new fridge magnet when it broke).
