They are both lovely.
I know what you mean about losing the bug - I don't feel well either and didn't stitch much last week. I did some knitting, though which recquired less concentration.

The sampler is beautiful -- do get the bug back before the Kintting & Stitching Show!

I got the bug back!! Have managed to do some more on both this week. See what you think:
I prefer stitching the Angel but progress seems SOOOO SLOOWWW compared to the sampler.

Great progress on both, I like the Angel especially, and I love the fabric! I'm glad it's a dramatic kind of blue sky, when you described a stormy sky I was thinking of greys!!!

Love the letter J at the start of the thread.

Great progress! dare I admit to a preference for the sampler? i think it's so effective in its simplicity!

Here's my first meaningful project using waste canvas (I say meaningful as I've done two teent tiny motifs which barely count).
As you can see it's a digger on a T-shirt!! It's a Mary Hickmott design, for my nephew's bithday this weekend. He's mad about diggers so I'm hoping he'll like this.
I did it 3 over 1 for better coverage, and I backed it with light interfacing. I'm really pleased with the way it's turned out! Hope he likes it.

That's gorgeous! Having just done the waste-canvas-on-ready-made-bag-never-again thing, how did this stitch up? Presumably you also had to put your hand in and out of the garment to get at the stitching? I applaud you

as it looks really incredibly neat too!

I like it! Is the bunny just for modelling it then & your nephew will wear it eventually (or is the gift a bunny wearing a digger t-shirt?)
Such neat stitching too!

It stitched up well. The waste canvas was 14ct and I tacked that onto the front of the t-shirt, then put a hoop on it. Using 3 strands, the stitches had good coverage. I held the hoop inside the t-shirt and then had to move my stitching hand in and out of the t-shirt with each stitch. It took longer than usual, but it was ok, I guess because I could go in at the bottom of the t-shirt, but I bet you had to hook your hand in round the top of the bag each time which I imagine was tiresome.

Fair question! The bunny is a model for the sake of the photo. The t-shirt is much bigger than the bunny and is intended for my nephew to actually wear!

Love that digger! It really looks effective and so neat as well.
I've seriously thought of doing a picture on a t.shirt for Joe (a pokeman one) but I thought the stitching or any backing might be a bit scratchy?

Back it with iron-on interfacing and it should be ok.

Also helps to 'fix' the stitches to make it more robust for washing etc.
