Yes I am. I experimented a bit with other colours, but this seems to show the colour change better.

Thanks for the info. :D It's really helpful because i found some variegated threads in my stash (forgot all about them until i was doing a bit of sorting) and I'm hoping to do Kell's Rules for life sampler them, in the not too distant future. :x:

Finally, another finish. Tiger is done.. I'm pretty upset though since when I went to wash it the colours ran!!! argh.. hopefully I can cover it all with a mat as I was thinking of submitting it to the local fair.. my French knots are better than they've been in ages!

Image

unless anyone has some ideas to fix it? It's made with DMC colours, so I thought they'd be safe.

:applesauce: The tiger is magnificent. Majestic (can you say that about a tiger or only a lion??) I am so sorry about the colors running. :( I have never had that happen with DMC thread. and I wash them all the time. Cold water rinse? Someone on here will have a solution. I love your piece and hope that it can be fixed because I am sure it would have a great chance to win at the fair.

Thx Carole. Definitely cold water, though I put a tiny amount of dishwashing fluid in (again, something I've done before) because it was a bit smudged around the hoop marks. I've never had DMC run before either. :(

One of the skeins must have been flawed in its dying somehow. Its scary to think that can happen, but I'm sure it does. the "run" will rinse out.

He's beautiful! I'm so sorry it ran. Looks like it's just along the side though, so a mat would cover it. Hope someone here has a solution.

Beautiful finish! :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce: Did you try a stain remover just on the part that ran?

I guess it had to happen sometime, the DMC colour running. If a further coolish rinse doesn't help I would think that the framer could get the matt to cover it.

He looks so gorgeous doesn't he. Great finish Tiff.

Hes gorgeous.

Like you,i use a bit of dish washing liquid and even put in the washing machine with no problems.Feel gutted for you that the colours have run.The only thing i know is that they say to keep rinising in cold water till the dye stops bleeding.

 Oh no!!! bad DMC floss! :x I think if the cool rinses don't take care of it the framer could certainly hide it.. I would imagine that witht he border stitched as it was, it was meant to be adjacent to the mat anyway..

I remember your post on that.. :)

@Rose: I've never had this issue either.

@Faith: I'm trying to fit a mat over it, it does seem made for it. The issue I'm having now is it says it's 5x7, but it's slightly too big to fit in a 5x7 mat. So I'm going to have to try and cut the mat, which I'm miserable at. :) It never ends.

Hope it works out. Post us a picture when you finally get it worked out. I take it you didn't have luck with rinsing it out again? I wish I could think of something which would help. Keeping my :x: that the mat works out. I am sure it will.

Carole, I'm petrified to try rinsing it out. I know it's "supposed" to rinse out with continued cold water rinses, but DMC isn't "supposed" to run to begin with. I'm thinking of just covering it with the mat if I can get it going.

Glad you liked the stationery. I think that's all I had, so I'll have to be on the lookout for more. I have some Xmas stuff once we get closer. :)

I'm hoping DH will help me with the mat on Tiger, so once that's framed I'll have another picture. For now I finished off the Princess Alphabet letters into little pillows since I'll be staying with their family for maybe a week or more. It was my first attempt, I think it went okay. I tried to use matching thread for the backs (pink) and went over the hole twice, so hopefully they hold up!
