Just how does she do it?
OK, that's a question I ask about anyone with any musical talent at all, being completely without any myself. But, yes that's simply amazing.

Richard

Re: 2022 The Smile for Today Is...
Much to smile about here, a lovely thread to read through.
My contribution comes from a forum Mr Mabel is a member of, discussing vintage cars but also unrelated topics. A fellow member related how his daughter (now 46), when at school, had once asked him for help with her history homework, and the following conversation ensued:
"Dad, did you do history at school?" "Yes, I did." "Did you do the assassination of JFK?" "No." "Why not?" "Because it hadn't happened yet."
What is history depends very much on your perspective...

Re: 2022 The Smile for Today Is...
It's been a while since I posted something about felines. Had a hard time deciding between pictures (15) of perfectly camouflaged cats and
photos of 30 cats Highly skilled at "Hide and Seek" , some of which I could not find in the photo. So y'all can pick one or both. I think they appeal to me because Rosey loves to sit on a very black chair in the living room and watch me as I walk around the house looking for her.

In some of those examples it's impossible to see where the cat begins and ends!!

Re: 2022 The Smile for Today Is...
I hope the link to this artist's Etsy page comes through. Julia Las is a Ukrainian artist, now in Poland I think, who paints the most amazing and detailed watercolor Miniatures. I saw it in a Baba-email newsletter I get, but when I try to link that it doesn't link easily. I hope this link to the Julia Las Watercolor Miniature Paintings is easier. If you click on one of the prints to see it in more detail, the lower box in the top left corner of the page shows how small these amazing miniatures are. (Hope that makes sense).

Same here. I think it contributes to why I love model railways so much - it's an excuse to have landscapes and other micro- works of art.
Shame I haven't had a model railway up & available to play with since 1984. Still got the trains in the under stairs cupboard and all the model houses and other landscaping bits in my loft.
Regards,
Richard

These make me smile, so maybe they will do the same for you. I was on vacation last week and washed elephants in Florida, and swam with pigs in the Caribbean. One of the pigs tried to kiss me.

Be careful if you show the elephant washing one too I can see lots of people offering you can wash their cars for them
I can't top that the best I have is my birdies: There are four Robins who play fetch with me for their pellet treats. It took a while for them to realise if they didn't fight each other for the pellets then I would throw one to each of them and keep going until they didn't want any more.
Now they have started joining me in the greenhouse where I have all my seeds laid out drying. One clearly knew where the sunflower seeds were and zoomed straight in started helping himself
So I have added a tray of Robin pellets to keep them off my seeds. They also like hopping round the ground in the greenhouse - I assume because it is slightly warmer in there so the insects are more likely to be out and around. They have now learnt when I ask "Where are you" they make themselves known so that I don't step on them or close them in over night. It surprises me just how close to me they will fly going in and out of the greenhouse door.

Re: 2022 The Smile for Today Is...
Robins can become absolutely fearless. Makes one worried about stepping on them or throwing shovelfuls of soil on top of them.
We had a cat called Rooster who ignored all birds EXCEPT Magpies. Apparently he loathed them. One day he started muttering & grumbling to himself at our garden full of birds (Great Tits, Blue Tits, Long Tailed Tits, Blackbirds, Starlings, Robins, Sparrows, Pigeons, Ring Collar Doves, Gold Finches and a single Magpie) then his bottom started to wiggle. Finally he blasted out of the conservatory at maximum acceleration. He powered through the gaggle of birds nearby, shoulder barging a Ring Collar Dove off its feet as he accelerated past and launched himself at the sole Magpie at the back of the garden. He got a single tail feather and came back in in a huge huff for missing. He was NOT HAPPY and swore under his breath long and hard about it before settling down to sleep again.

Richard

Trained robins! Who knew?

Re: 2022 The Smile for Today Is...
Rooster was such a character. He had OPINIONS, and wasn't shy about sharing them. He grumbled & muttered like anything if his toy mouse wasn't in his bed when he wanted to sleep, or the curtain was hanging in the wrong place. In which case he fussed and niggled until we sorted it out for him. But if you were ever ill, he was the first to snuggle up to make you feel better.
He's the nearest orange bundle of fluff infesting our bed in this image:

It was such a shame he got a form of liver cancer and we had to have him put to sleep 5/6 months after diagnosis. He was eating 12-14 pouches a day and still losing weight. By then he'd started to have a small amount of discomfort from the growth, but didn't seem to before then.
Poor little thing, we do miss him.
Regards,
Richard.
