Besides giving up the loop start (and I like that also when I have a large color area and am adding a strand. Its a good way to secure the old thread too (hope that sentence makes sense), it seems like I would have to rethink the whole way I stitch. left to right in a row and back again in the same row. This is more left to right, go down to the next row (or the next stitch of that color, right? So you'd have to plan a bit differently the order of stitches? Does that question make sense.

Not a lot of stitching has been taking place at Milkybar Towers - my stitchy bug has been replaced with a snivelling snuffling cold bug! But I have managed to make a meagre start on
QS Dragonfly stitched on 18ct aida to match Believe:

Not much to see there but a start is a start! So instead of stitching I have been stashing and organising and have all my threads ready for Chinese Garden Mandala:

Which will hopefully one day turn into this:

The crops for the HAED Freebie SAL 2012 are up so I'm also deciding which one of those I might like to stitch next year.....it will be interesting to see what everyone chooses!

Good start on your QS and your Mandala choice is gorgeous
I do hope your cold bug gets kicked out by your stitchy bug very soon

Great start on QS Dragonfly. So sorry you are having a cold. Perhaps some time in St. Cross Stitcher's Ward with

and some rest will help you get better soon.
I would think that getting everything organized for your Chatelaine must help too.
How do you find out about the HAED freebie SAL? or is that the one that is closed to new stitchers for now because it is filled? Do you have a lot of designs to choose from? It will be fun watching your progress there too.
Feel better soon. Colds are just nasty since they last a lot longer now it seems than they used to.

Carole - Rachel on the HAED BB put up the choices this morning (my time

) - there are 6 to choose from, 4 QSs and 2 SKs. Sign ups for it will probably start in a few days time so check out the BB if you are interested!
I have just cut and hemmed my fabric for CGM and am resisting the urge to start!!!

Thanks for the info. I just went to the BB (see you have been online too) and don't know where to look. I have a hard time with that format for some reason. Do you mind pointing me in the right direction?
Just found it. oooooooo these are pretty. Now, is there somewhere that explains how the freebie SAL works?
I hope you don't mind my asking these questions. You all should know my bad tendency to threadjack.
You know, resisting the urge to start your Chatelaine may be adding stress to your cold. so if you REALLY want to get started you could think of it as helping your health return.

You are such a bad influence Carole!!!
Re the HAED SAL - I am assuming that the rules will be the same as in previous years in that stitchers who post the required number of WIPs in the SAL thread on the HAED BB will be rewarded with all the charts from the SAL at the end of the year. You do not have to finish the piece to get all the charts - just post the required number of SAL WIPs. I am sure Rachel will post the rules and sign up procedure in the General HAED Discussion section in a few days, so keep you eyes peeled

! I'm trying to choose between the Kittie Bookends (the full chart has been on my wishlist for ages) and the Dillman SK.......

either the Kittie Bookends or the TeddyBear Tree I think. (I also think calling me a bad influence is the pot calling the kettle black

). I am going to keep an eye open on this one I am sure. SAL's are fun I have discovered.

I would love to join in on this one too--if I can manage to work out how to do so. Can you point me in the right direction please
Love your start on dragonfly Mrs. MBK

and your stash for the Chatelaine is fantastic. I do hope you feel better soon

The sign up for the HAED freebie SAL hasn't started yet Karen - but if you go to the General HAED Discussion section of the forum you will see the Freebie SAL thread at the top with the 6 pictures to choose from!

Thanks for the info--looks like I have to rejoin the yuku site--which I've registered to do now. I'm waiting to be accepted so that I can see what they will be offering---this may be part of why I've missed out in the past--there's so many steps to get thru before you get to join

Rachel has said that the Freebie SAL is only open to current board members and that there will be no new members accepted to the board until the sign up to the SALs ends - so I don't know where that leaves you Karen. I guess you have to be in it to win it
