An angry bird motif for my grandson's bath towel. I have a game going with him. Since he is into "angry bird", I have collected as many 'angry bird" items such as angry bird lego, game, gummi or candies, stuffed angry bird for backpack, stuffed angry bird for his stuffed animal collection, angry bird books, etc. I made up about 10 "angry birds" drawings on cardstock and wrote instruction on the back for him to find his treat at the end of the treasure hunt. I play the game with him when I visit every weekend for the treasure hunt. I decided to cross-stitch a motif of the black angry bird for a bath towel for his treasure hunt. He is excited whenever I play this game with him. I have 4 other angry birds to stitch but will wait since these motifs are quite big. I need to come up with ideas on the finishing before I start. Soon it will be time to come up with a different "theme' as he gets older and change his "interest". LOL

What a great gift!!!!! I love that you are doing so many different and fun activities with it and not just playing the game. By the way I love Angry Birds and play them all the time. I have 4 the original, Seasons, Rio, and Start Wars. I don't think you will have to find a new interest, I have been making a nutcracker every year for 18 years for my son. He rolls his eyes at me and says I am crazy but every Christmas he looks for his nutcracker and he loves them. When it becomes a tradition and collection they love it even if they roll their eyes.

I love the angry bird and I love that you do these treasure hunts with your grandson. I agree with Rose that you aren't going to have to change themes. We used to give each grandchild a stuffed animal at Christmas. From the Smithsonian collection at first so they would be really different. We had llamas, and beavers and octupuss and lizards etc. They became hard to find so we switched to Audubon birds. When my oldest grandson turned 13 or so, my DH and I argued about his being "too old" to want a stuffed toy. DH won and my GS was really disappointed, even though he had plenty of gifts. The next year he got the llama. Traditions have meanings seperate from the activity or object.

Here is my gift for a good friend. It is the chart that Carole (rcperryls) sent me. I changed the colors to better suit my friends taste. I used some gold fleck 14 count aida for the fabric and I made the finish into a flatfold so that she can put it on her desk at work if she wants to.

Oh and I did not have a bow charm but I did have a heart with a rose on it so I used that.
I am pretty sure that I will make at least 2 more of these for a couple more friends. They are so quick and fun.

Wonderful "smalls", everyone.
Just in case you thought I'd given up stitching after James Watt, here is the bellpull for the new(ish) sons of family friends I had to put aside for a while. The fabric is actually white and it was stitched with Caron "Moonglow".
