Thank you Ladies :) He now has both of his right legs outlined:

You can even see a couple of the glittery bits:

I'm trying to finish off the other legs while I what I really want to do is his head

:applesauce: You must be getting close now! Did you say you have beads to add to this too? Hard to imagine they could make this even more lovely.

There are FIVE packets of Millhill seed beads to stitch onto it before the end

And the last leg:

And on to finishing off his head :tizzy:

Then I will be torn between doing his scales or the latticework :thinks:

Thank you :D

Made it :whoop:

Image

I've put away the stitching chart although it still shows where the gold beads need to go - they will need to go on last as they are near the roller edges so will cause lumps if I try to scroll. On my chart stand is now the latticework/scales chart:

Image

And to keep me on my toes there are four seed beads on each of the cross over sections on the blue lattice net

Thank you.

I've started doing the latticework... But I decided to count how many beads I needed... on half the chart there are 120ish blocks of 4 beads, so double it for the other side and I need about 1000 mauve beads

So how many is in a packet of these petite seed beads? I got out my jewellers scale and popped a few beads on the scale and the reading remained on zero. Then I checked and there was only 1.6g of beads in the packet and my scale only went down to 0.1g

Next ploy was to look on the internet. It told me that each packet should have 500 beads in them. So I can loose 50% and should still be ok :D

I admire those of you who do the beading on the various projects that require it. I would rather do any stitch, including my least favorite French knots, than do beading. 1000 beads is beyond my comprehension. That and the lattice work will make this a real masterpiece. I love Teresa Wentzler designs (I am repeating myself, I know) and this is really one of her best.

Thank you Carole,

I have been marching on with the latticework:

Image

Meaning I need to think about the beads  I have mentioned there are zillions of them and they are really small  First challenge is how to hold them while I work. The idea of reaching over to the table to pick each up would take for ever and increase the probability of loosing them so I have come up with this:

Image

Yes that is over 500 of these tiny beads holding themselves vertically on a jewellers sticky pad. This pad in turn is self stuck on a steel square which I plan to hold on my work using from behind using those red magnets.

The other joy I have been tackling is the beading needle: The kit comes with one ever so long needle. But I have gone through my collection and found none of them actually go through the hole in the beads  Fearing that one will break I have ordered some more beading needles but they will take a week to turn up so I will have to be careful when I start.

The lattice work is lovely. Like I said before, I admire you adding all those beads. there is no doubt in my mind that I would probably stop there and declare the project finished.

It’s beautiful and the beads will make it look even more amazing. I admire you ability to use beading needles. I hate them…they are so sharp and pointy, and they always stab me. Luckily, the beads I’ve used to date have been fine with a size 28 needle. It’s much safer. LOL
