I finally finished the wedding favours for my best friend. (Photo is in the UFO week thread). AM glad to get them over and done with as my fingers were aching the whole week!

As a special treat to myelf, I've started work on the Japanese Cherry Blossoms by Maria Diaz from Cross Stitcher to make into a small cushion for my Grom's Xmas. I'm stitching it on Charles Craft "Soft Touch" Dusty Rose 14-count Aida with the main 5 colours being the freebie flosses from the latest Cross Stitcher magazine plus two other flosses I just happen to have on hand. Here's the work I did tonight:

So far I'm finding it a very enjoyable stitch, even though I haven't actually done much of it - LOL! I'm only using 2 strands of floss, however, as I thought it looked a bit lumpy using 3 and I wanted a finer finish than that.

I'm going to do a different design on the other side of the cushion (possibly the 4 butterflies freebie design from My Aunt's Attic) in similar colours, so that it's reversible.

I'm very pleased that the photograph gives a pretty fair representation of the colours too (for once - LOL!). I'm looking for a nice soft, delicate effect - these are all colours that my Grom tends to favour, so I hope she'll like the finished effect!

I'm nearly finished the Japanese blossoms - only the pale pink fill-design to complete - so I'll leave the progress pic today and just post a photo of the finished piece instead, probably tomorrow night. I've really enjoyed stitching this design and will look forwad to doing the other side of the cushion and putting it all together too!

I've been a bit late catching up with this thread - your cards are lovely. I especially like that Christmas tree one which Slinky highlighted! The cherry blossoms is a beautiful project as well, looking forward to your next picture.

And here's the finished Charry Blossoms piece which will be one side of a small cushion for my Grom's Xmas present. :)
