OK, I managed to finish the ribbonwork floral wreath, but I had to do quite a bit of guessing. It doesn't matter that much as it's quite a free type of embroidery anyway :-), so if a flower is in a slightly different place, or if I decided to replace the straight stitches and french knots in stranded cotton by some more ribbon flowers it's really just a matter of personal preference!

Anyway, here it is -- the picture is a bit blurry as I had to turn the flash off (I tried it with flash but that looked horrible) and as usual the colours are rather different from real life  , but it'll give you an idea :-)

Really pretty wreath! I like the purple in there. I tried a little Mill Hill kit years ago that included some ribbon work and it just gave me a headache! :D

Last night I finished my 13th Madonna -- I'm well on schedule for Christmas
This one is on 20ct white aida using Vineyard Silk Classic; as I said not idea on this fabric, but it's a lovely soft finish, I keep stroking it :-D!

Early this morning I found *panic panic* that the dedication service for a little girl in our church was TODAY!!! and I hadn't made a card. So as I had woken up fairly early anyway, and church doesn't start till 10.30, I decided to do a little hardanger cross. I pretty much made it up as I went along, and as I was using a piece of fabric I'd cut before for somthing else, it wasn't big enough for a hoop so I had to sew in hand, but by the time we had to go the card was ready *phew* :-)

And here's a close-up of the little cross -- the backstitch is in Kreinik #4 Braid Starburst:

That is beautiful Mabel - she will have been delighted. Fast work mind!

Love your madonnas by the way - did you do the design yourself? Are they for Christmas cards? I'd love to do one of those for my Vicar (he's an amazing man) - do you suppose I could use your design?

Hugs

Niki, the Madonna design is based on a freebie, I did make some changes to the design though. There's a link to the blog with the freebie in Charmagne's thread.
Yes, they're going to be Christmas cards -- I did 24 last year so that's more or less my aim, but I'm not going to stress about it :-), however many get done, get done!

I am in AWE of you Mabel !!! That hardanger cross is stunning! I can't believe you whipped it off in a flash off the top of your head. I tip my hat to your stitching prowess! Your work is always so beautiful.

You may have a fan club forming. I'm truly impressed with your pieces and the spirit you seem to put into them.

I really like the Madonna. The clean, quiet design makes a much deeper, reverential statement than most of the larger, gaudier designs. I would actually stitch that for a Christmas motif. And I'm the most Un-Christmasy person I know.
