Excellent stitching as always, Mabel. What is the number of the Kreinik 'Starburst' metallic, please? And I think I've fallen in love with Abalone, too... (will I be forced to buy stash??)
Concerning the Victoria Sampler kit: well, I always cut in a frame, the tighter the better.

Kreinik Starburst is #95, Caron Abalone #51.

Will it make you feel better about your purchase if someone forced you

? All right then: "Serinde, you positively
must buy stash!

I'd started another Madonna using Dinky Dyes silk (will probably finish it tonight), but doing all that Hardanger with lots of satin stitch in Caron Watercolours suddenly gave me an idea -- how about doing the Madonna in satin stitch? I tried two, one on 24ct black congress cloth (using 200 Aquamarine) and one on 20ct cream aida (using 051 Abalone).
Although the photograph of the one on aida looks better, in real life the one on congress cloth is more successful, I think -- coverage is better, and because it is a canvas and quite stiff, the fabric keeps its shape better while making all those long stitches. But I'm quite pleased with both of them and they are QUICK!! So I'll certainly do a few more

(they are also terribly strokeably, very soft and fluffy

)

Very nice and I like the combination of the colors on the second one the best. I do like the black but the thread color of the second is more stricking.

And here't the "standard" one I'd started -- it uses Dinky Dyes stranded silk (83 Peach Melba) and Petite Treasure Braid (23 Snow):
16 of an intended 24 finished

and with a few more of the satin stitch quickies I should easily make it!
