Thank you all for the great comments! Progress has slowed down a bit over the last two weeks due to school holidays! Tomorrow I get a stitchy day while Maddie is at nursery. So I've tried to do as much as I can around the house, shopping etc. Hoping for 5 1/2 hours of stitching peace tomorrow!
I've also managed a bit of stitchy shopping over Easter! Firstly the companion piece to the Samurai, called Jewels of the Orient.
I also decided on the design to go on the back of my Lizzie*Kate Welcome doggie design. It's by Waxing Moon. Couldn't resist this one! I'm going to change it slightly, moving the words down and across to make it a similar shape and size to the doggie one.

Wow you're just flying through the samurai one. Must be a bit of a pain with all those blended colours but you're doing great. And I love the fabric that you chose for this, suits it perfectly.
I don't like working on aida. I was going to do this on 32 count evenweave but read a lot of things on here about Dimensions kits being really short on thread, so I was put off making the design larger. I settled for 36 count linen. The "slubs" don't seem noticable when you're stitching, but add a certain something as a background. I'll definitely use linen again!
I'm used to the blending now, all the red and purple is blended!

Ok, a little progress to show. I'm going to have to put this to one side for a few weeks as I need to stitch something for my friends 50th Birthday at the end of the month.
This is one that i've just finished. Another friend's 50th! He just bought himself a Porsche Boxster, and has been constantly told that it's a mid-life crisis purchase, so I thought it would be fun to do this for him! I charted most of the lettering using an online facility, but I charted "Porsche" myself using graph paper as I wanted it to be in the same font as the badge! Stitched on Polstitches "Stormy Skies" fabric, the blue is DMC satin thread.

This is the design that I am going to stitch for my other friend. From Joan Elliott's book A Woman's World In Cross Stitch.
I've just recieved a grab bag of fabric from Polstitches, so I'm going to see if any of that is suitable for this. If not I'll just do it on white, as there are lots of bright colours in this one.
