I know I'm kind of repeating myself by saying this again, but your kindness and encouragement are making me feel wonderful. Thank you.

It really is looking gorgeous and the roses are so realistic too. Love the colour changes you have made - they are right for the design. I am delighted that the stitching is helping you through this difficult time and glad we can all help too.

I've finished all of the cross stitch so now it's on to the back stitch. Please wish me luck because I only learned how to do it a little while ago. I was clueless about what to do about securing it when it begins in the middle of nowhere, as in the text in the middle of this project, but I looked up some of your posts here in the tips section and I think I know what to do. :thinks: I'm going to use the darkest red wine in the roses for the words.

It looks beautiful. I tried to explain what I do with the end of the thread when I backstitch but it sounded way more confusing than it is, so I will leave it to some of our other members who are much better at explaining things than I am. I am sure that it is going to be lovely.

The colors are so warm and pretty. well done. :applesauce: :applesauce:

I found three stitches I missed when I went back to back stitch. Makes me wonder how many others I skipped.

The thread is dark and the fabric is white and rather loosely woven. I'm not carrying my thread all over the place but I am carrying it from one letter to the next but I turn the work upside down every other letter so the thread is only carried over a stitch or two. But still, if you look really hard, you can see the thread. The only other thing I can think of is to start and stop each letter separately. Is that being too obsessive/compulsive? It's just being done for us, not a competition, but I don't want to be doing something really heinous!

I always carry my thread on lettering, I don't even care if you can see it because it reflects how I write. However I do stop and start for different words. If you want to carry the thread then carry it. If it looks bad after you've stitched it...you've only done two letters, frog it and be OCD about it. We all have those OCD moments, sometimes you just have to embrace it ^_^

I sometimes carry the thread from letter to letter if it is only a few squares but like Angel I usually start over with a new word. If you don't like the way it looks, its not that hard to unpick the first few letters and then just do each one seperately. I usually make my decision after about 3 letters as to whether or not I think the carry over is too much.

Thanks everyone, for your help.

I put it down for today to give you time to answer and for me to think about it. I always use a layer of quilt batting under the stitched piece when I frame it so I looked at it against that and under incandescent light, not the the daylight bulb I use for stitching and it was really noticeable. So, OCD won, as usual. I'm going to start over.

But this is just at the top where it says, "What Cancer Cannot Do." These letters are bigger and there is more space between them. I think in the main body of the text, where there is only one square between letters, I might be able to get away with carrying the thread. I'll definitely break between words.

I can see where this will be a case by case basis based on thread, fabric, and design.

It's a good day for stitching when I learn something. Thanks again!
