great progress.

Move over Lessa. I will join you on the magic bench as there are going to be several getting started, I think, which will be so much fun to watch as they get going. I don't think I've ever stitched from the bottom. Does it seem different?

It could simply be the different fabric, this is on 22ct Hardanger whereas my other HAED is on 25ct Magic Guide evenweave but I am enjoying this one a lot more.
So much so that I am thinking of switching the fabric Faery Tales which will be my next start.

Do you know Emma, I'm looking forward to doing this one, as I'll be doing it on 22ct Hardanger 1 over 1 full crosses (now I've seen your coverage). My other 2 HAEDs I'm doing 2 over 1 full crosses on 25 count magic count (like you) and the back is getting SO congested with all the confetti that I'm seriously considering starting them again, still using the 25 count but 1 over 1 full crosses, possibly 2 over 1 tent (I'll need to experiment). I've finished 2 pages of Rhyme & reason, but haven't yet finished a page of Trio, and I think it's because of the tightness and bulkiness of the stitches that I'm getting stuck with them. Serves me right for plunging straight in and 'doing what it said on the tin' rather than having a play and seeing what worked best.
Is it the James C Christensen Faery Tales you'll be doing?

Jo yes it is that Faery Tales I'll be starting. It would have been something else if I hadn't put it down as a 2012 challenge for the HAED BB.
My 25ct is 1 over 1 for that very reason, I got about 1000 stitches in and just decided it was far too bulky, flipped the fabric and strated again 1 over 1 and the speed with which I caught up with what I'd done convinced me that 1 over 1 was the right choice.

I think you may have just sold it to me!! I'm going to give it a go on the 1 over 1 I think. It seems a shame, but there are an awful lot more pages in front of me to be struggling along when there's no need. I think what I've done so far will just have to go down to experience.
On a more positive note, when are you starting Faery Tales? I need to know when to put my cushion on the magic bench, as I'll be glued to your progress. It's on my HAED 'must have' list (along with about 20 others

)

You may not get the coverage you do with 2 threads but it's a compromise I'm willing to make so that I enjoy the stitching.
Won't be starting faery tales for at least a month, need to buy more fabric and don't have the funds at the moment.

Just catching up on all of these. It'll be fun to watch them come together in the middle. This is certainly quite the project!

Having a coverage crisis!!! Debating starting again 2 over 1
The pictures make it look better than it actually is, the fabric I did my test stitching on is a lot different to what I'm using even though the count is the same, the hardanger is a lot stiffer than my test fabric

I am doing 1 over 1 on Hardanger on two different designs, but found I have to make sure that I don't stitch as tightly as when I do 2 over 1. Also they are much lighter patterns that your Sistine Chapel so that might make the difference. If you aren't happy with it, then now is the time to think of restarting before you get too far on it. That was my issue with tent stitching. The coverage was okay, the speed was what I needed, but the pictures made it look better also, like you said.

Thanks Carole, I've gridded across the page and I'm going to start 2 over 1 in bottom left corner before I pull out what I've already done but my test stitching on this fabric suggests its the way to go
