Well, I made some progress on the project for my MIL, but there's no way I'm going to get it done for Christmas. I'm shooting now for Mother's Day and if that doesn't work, there's always her birthday in July!

It's taking me a lot longer than I anticipated, I think because of all the empty space between shapes and it's way bigger than I thought it would be (didn't look at the measurements on the front of the kit...

.) There's also going to be a painful amount of backstitching involved. It's all worth it though!!

These are very nice cross stitches. You have made a lot of progress on the Lightning McQueen one. I love how he contrasts the black background.
Happy Holidays!
Warm Regards,

Backstitching isn't my favorite thing to do (even though I love the result), and when there's a lot of it, I find doing it as I go eases my pain.

I don't know too many people who enjoy backstitching but virtually everyone likes the result. As suggested, do it as you go to spread the pain.
On another matter, do we need to pass the hat to get you a new needle? That one looks to be in rough shape.

I just finished my Nora Corbett house and I LOVE the way it turned out!! Unfortunately, the pictures I took don't do it justice in any way, shape, or form...in real life, it's so sparkly it almost brings a tear to my eye.
Let me share a few thoughts about this project: First, I'm pretty sure i frogged more stitches on this one project than with ALL of my other projects combined! And yet, I never once wanted to throw it out the window because I just loved everything about it. Lots of firsts for me: first Kreinik metallics, first silk (Waterlilies,) first Arctic Rays Wispy Fringe (snowflakes and bottom border,) and first time putting beads on a project stitched on fabric (I've done several Mill Hill projects on perforated paper.) Can't say I was crazy about the Arctic Rays...it really stretched out the holes no matter how light I kept the tension. I think it would work better on a stiffer fabric. This is also the first Nora Corbett project I've ever done and I would totally do another based on my experience with this one...maybe the other houses in this series...hmmmm...I think I need to make a run to my LNS...

Thanks everyone! One of my New Year's resolutions is to frame all my many finishes that are just sitting in a box, this lovely house included! I think it'll look really nice framed and I think I'll leave it up all year even though it's winter themed.

I just looked at that needle and it has indeed seen better days! I'm happy to report that I have since purchased new needles and retired that one!
