We find it on the Trigeminal neuralgia forums - its known as an old persons disease, yet on the forums its predominantly younger people like myself - so is the disease spreading more into the younger population or is it natural selection by way of internet savvy???

Its brill that there are so many younger people here :D

I thought of that as well.. sorry, its all those Market Research classes from college. Any internet study will skew younger than in the general population, as internet usage itself is more prevalent among younger people. (But I didn't want to give her boyfriend any ideas!)

I have recently stitching alot again since I found a local charity who appreciates smaller projects. I'm really enjoying myself.

I'm turning 25 on sunday :D I've been stitching on and off since I was about 10 or 11, and seriously since I was about 16. I enjoy stitching and refuse to listen to anyone who tells me it's an old lady hobby. I enjoy it and that is all that matters. I get so much joy from it, and the looks on my family and friends faces when I give them something I've made is priceless. I'm not so good at other crafts so this is perfect for me

I'm 53 and my daughter is 25; I've been stitching for about 7 years now, although I did make some mini-kits back in the 80's. I taught my daughter to cross stitch some 3 years ago.

I'm 27, and I started stitching when I was a kid, probably around 10 or so. I've stitched on and off for the last few years, but I've recently been spending much more time stitching. I get teased for having old lady hobbies as well (I also crochet and do jigsaw puzzles), but I don't care! I find stitching to be fun and relaxing, so if that makes me an old lady, so be it :)

Hi..I am going to be 44 this year. I have been stitching since I was 18. I was away from my home country attended college in Missouri. I saw one of my fellow senior did the stitching during Spring break and she guided me to stitch. I gave my 1st stitch to my boyfriend (he is my husband of 20 years now..) . I remember admiring the stitching stuffs at JoAnn but could not really bought due to shortage of $$$. Getting less stitching while having babies (4 of them) but now actively stitching since all had grown up and I am living apart alone in a foreign land again...  I think stitching is a therapy and I find myself in my own world without wasting any time....

I'm 28 and I have been cross stitching since I was in 7th grade. I remember sneaking off to buy a pattern at Kmart when my mom thought I was at my friends house. I guess the hobby stuck.

I also sew clothing :) In high school my friends called me grandma....ive learned to embrace it. :)

It's great to read everyone's stories :D so far,it seems as if Im the youngest to reply. Im 17. Im ofteo called a freak by my friends, because of my 'unusual' hobbies and because I don't drink, party, smoke, etc.
My mom taught me how to sew and knit when I was 4/5, I use to make clothes for my dolls :D
When I was 6, I bought myself my first cross stitch package.. It had 5 designs in,to do on these huge plastic grids wit wool as thread! Haha :D i was hooked, after all 5 was complete I started with proper cross stitch. I also enjoy many other crafts, such as weaving, beadwork, sketching, etc. But my fav is stil cross stitch and then knitting. For the last 4 years or so, I couldn't do cross stitch and most crafts, because I struggled wit unknown vision deterioration. Was severly impaired and was almost completely blind last year. But then just in time, docters discovered the problem, was on meds and fully regained my sight in nov last year! :D:D extremely grateful!! I immediately jumped back into cross stich! :D luckily crafts such as weaving and knitting I could still do despite my vision. Glad to be back though!! :D forever the 'freak' and loving it, smiley

I'll be 32 next month! I started stitching in my late teens when I saw a magazine while shopping for my nan, so I did the cover kit. Then a few years later I got into it a bit more then stopped for 5 years then picked it up again about a year or so ago :) I love it doing it and I find it very relaxing (unless theres a visit from the Frog! in which case I get very frustrated!)
Now that I think about it no one has ever called my hobby an 'old lady' hobby?! In fact when 2 of my friends found out I stitched they admitted that they did too?! I can't do anything else my Mom and Nan taught me several times to knit but I could never do it, and I always forgot (same with playing draughts?! I can remember how to play chess....but never draughts!) As far as I know no one in my family has ever stitched, but my mom was an awesome dressmaker (did amazing fancy dress oufits!) unfortunately she died when I was 10 and never taught me to do it, I'd love to be able to make my own clothes.

26. Cross stitching for the last 12 yrs or so ever since my parents split. Always thought I was kinda weird and kept it secret from my friends, my BF is really supportive so long as I don't talk at him about it. I also like to card make, scrapbook, knit, crotchet, dress-make and spin yarn so sometime cross stitch takes a back seat.
