Squirrel - so sorry to hear of the loss in your family - my family had the same experience this year and it is a terribly tragic and upsetting thing. I really feel for your family and just wanted to say I am thinking of you

I'm so sorry about your loss Squirrel. Your poor grandaughter, I can only imagine how she is feeling. It's been 2 months since MIL killed herself now, and DH and the rest of my family are still trying to find ways of coping. I don't think it's something that's gonna happen anytime soon.

I didn't get anything today, but the designer I work for received the model I finished for her last week. She's thrilled with it and wasn't expecting it yet! Yeah! Now to work on some of my projects (especially since the HAED e-mail mailman delivered 2 patterns over the weekend).

Thank you all for your message of sympathy. Its been a crazy 2 weeks thats for sure.
The funeral was yesterday and DS said it went ok, very emotional of course especially for GD. He is finding the sudden ceasation of screaming phone calls from his ex partner very surreal.
Amanda and Xandras I do hope that eventually you will find closure and peace after your losses too. Thinking of you and saying some prayers too.

She sounds like she was very troubled.
Hopefully you will all be able to make some sense of it and have some peace.

to Squirrel!
I got a nice haul this week from the Postman: 28 ct dyed lugana (chalice, a nice orangy shade), 2 different colors of beads for my tree of stitches (my first beads actually), invisible thread and beading needles, gridding pen for my HAED projects, Anchor 403 'cus one can never have too much black floss (with actual good coverage) and DMC 209 that was missing for a HAED.
I also received the things I bought for my Stashmas, just gotta wrap and send on the date we're supposed to, but the package (minus a card) is all set.
And, last but not least (and it actually came first) my bingo prize from Katiespark! Lovely design indeed!

Wow Laura what a lovely lot of stash your postman has delivered to you. Like the sound of the laguna, should be nice and bright.
Thanks for the hugs, much appreciated.

I'm really surprised. I was sure that my subscription to cross stitch collection had run out and I needed the new issue...but here it is, on my doorstep!

Here are my lovely new fabrics
From left to right:
Shades of Autumn (28ct brittney evenweave) - Cancer (32ct Belfast opal linen) - Gecko (35ct Edinburgh linen) - Ocean Depths (35ct Edinburgh linen) - Shades of Autumn (35ct Edinburgh linen)
I bought the Shades of Autumn in both evenweave and linen because I thought they looked quite different in color and I wanted to see which one I liked the best. Think linen won the battle, although the evenweave was lovely too, not sure what I'll use them for, need to find the right design.
Cancer was supposed to be for The Great Escape SAL, but now I'm not sure. Might use it for a Passione Ricamo design (My Lady of the Snow) I wanna do instead, or a Mirabilia (Star Gazer).
Ocean Depths will potentially be used for Mirabilia's Bluebeard's Princess, but I'll have to get the floss for it and do a floss toss as I think some of the colors might be too close. If not them I'm sure I'll find some other use for it.
Don't have a project linen up for Gecko, just loved the bright yellow and green so had to have it!

Oooh lovely! I'm waiting for three fabrics myself, and Ocean Depths is one of them (though on 25ct Lugana). Looking forward to seeing what you'll be using Gecko for

! (Just a thought -- as the fabric itself is so striking, perhaps a monochrome design in dark green?)

Lovely fabrics for both XandraS and Ravenfaerie. Mine isn't nearly so fancy, but I'm hoping it will make the TOS easier to stitch. Got this yesterday from 123 Stitch:

you can see who it belongs to. I photographed it on the envelope, which has a big bright orange seal with DO NOT BEND on it. So it was doubled up to fit inside the mail box.
It is 20ct Ivory Jobelan for the TOS and Pearl Cotton Size 3 #367,369 and 368 and Size 5 #51 and 92. The Pearl Cottons are to go with the ones I got at Michael's last week for the hopefully to be done Hardanger Afghan

I also bought what I thought was linen (don't ask why I thought there would be such a large count linen but the name is Salt Carolina Linen) 14 ct and it turned out to be Aida. I expect I can use it somewhere.
I also bought this rolling cart at Walmart to keep track of my active projects which are taking up more and more space. Its actually pretty neat and was just $19.

I have the cat afghan in the top drawer, LOTR and QS Cats in the 2nd drawer and the bottom will be for TOS and whichever other afghan (Hardanger first I guess and then dragons) in the bottom. The large cabinet in the hutch has most of my other cs stash. The stash is taking over.

love all the nice fabric and stash that everyone has gotten!!

Very nice and Carole, that rolling cart is very nice---I've been thinking about getting something like that myself--may very well need to do so.

Check them out at Walmart, Karen. Its Rubbermaid I think. And very reasonable. All I had to do to put it together was to pound the wheels in. I needed something because of the way I use the plastic boxes to keep the threaded needles in. Even though I now have a system where I don't duplicate a bobbin, but move it from one box to another for different projects, I can end up with 6 or 8 plastic bobbin containers per project and I couldn't keep anything straight. Haven't figured out what I will use for the perle cottons or the silks yet. I have one sewing box for krenik threads. Might use that for the other specialties.

Carole I have three of the Searlite drawers. One like you have. Another one about half the width and the one that has two big drawers and four smaller drawers to it. Be careful with the one you have. I put a few things (I think they were books) and it ended up bowing.
