Oh that is so beautiful Mabel, when I saw the colours I thought it would be delightful and it certainly is, the colours are lovely :applesauce: :applesauce: :applesauce:

The colour of the card compliments your stitching perfectly :whoop: It would be perfect framed with the card as the mount too.

Absolutely lovely.

Gorgeous work but the butterfly is absolutely stunning. I would love to do it but will wait until I am back doing x stitch properly before I tackle it. Every stitch is so very neatly worked. Looks fabulous on the flower. :whoop: :whoop: :D :D :D

Right, so I wasn't going to have any other WIPs beside the SAL and the Certificate, but I realised that occasionally I do need a bit of "mindless stitching", for example to take to stitching group (where it's not easy to go in for fierce concentration, what with all the chat and tea :-) )

So yesterday I took some Certificate doodling, but I also took this: it's a design by Oh Sew Bootiful, and initially I ordered the fabric pattern pack (printed fabric plus instructions) but then found she does PDFs of the instructions only, too, and she kindly cancelled my initial order so I could just get the design; after all, I have plenty of fabric in my stash!

Image

I picked two sets of possible threads, one in more or less the original colours (although I wanted a near-white for the wave tops) in DMC coton a broder and flache, and one using Carrie's Creations overdyed stranded cotton in more of a teal palate, with goldfish instead of the original green. I went with the second colour scheme (but I may do the other one as well some time).

Image

I printed the pattern to a slightly smaller size than the original, so it will fit a satin box I've got, and I'm doing stem stitch around the waves instead of backstitch simply because I find that more relaxing. Here's where I've got to so far:

Thank you for putting the link Mabel, most kind of you. What a wonderful website it is with so much information. Haven't time to look at it properly today but will do so when I can. Will watch the videos too even though I won't be needing any of them at the moment but always good to have somewhere you can see work being done other than on YouTube.

Lovely work you did on the strawberries while you were waiting for people to come to your stand. The other design is very nice as well. :applesauce: :applesauce:

Looking forward to seeing more of your beautiful handicraft work

Took my Wave project with me when we visited MIL over the weekend, and got quite a bit done! (The colonial knots were done at stitching group today - I'm going to shade them towards white in the tip of the wave.)

I finished one of the wave tips yesterday, gradually moving from three strands of light teal to three strands of white. I do like the effect! But it did surprise me a little how alike the two “mixed” sections look; it’s hard to tell where the two-teal-one-white changes to one-teal-two-white, whereas the other changes (from solid teal to mixed and from mixed to solid white) are much clearer. If anyone can think of an explanation, I’d be very interested.

That is gorgeous! And I feel like I can see the difference, maybe the photo is picking it up more than the naked eye?

I think they blend in beautifully. If you look closely you can sort of tell which is which, but I think that the way they slowly blend is wonderful and I would think that is what you were planning on.

Finished my wave with goldfish

The design is by Oh Sew Bootiful and they sell them as full kits, printed fabric plus instructions, or PDF instructions only - I chose that last option so I could play with it :-).

And here it is finished, with a couple of close-ups of things I changed (the shaded wave tips, and the fish - orange instead of green, and I outlined before satin stitching).
