Another of my silly questions about this one, I opened mine yesterday just to have a nosey, and the thread comes in pre-sorted cards, but the threads seem to be stuck in the card with some sort of glue, which makes the end of the thread sticky, can you take them out and use a thread sorter, is this easy, or is it easier just using the card.
yes it is glue. Mine never came presorted, but i have another dimensions kit that did. I did initally try and pull them off but the end was tacky from the glue...so i now cut them off as high up as i can..you only lose a little bit of thread. That glue would ruin the fabric and work so dont try and save the thread.
I take mine out, label cardboard bobbins with the symbol drawn in the colour it is printed in...a four colour pen will do the trick..red, blue, green and black. Then i wind the matching thread onto the labelled symbol bobbin. That way when I am stitching, i can look at the pattern without referring back to the colour chart as all the bobbins speak the same language as the printed pattern.
I wrote HS for half stitch and (3) if it is 3 threads or (4) if it is four..ect also on the bobbin. If it is a combined colour i write 1 of each and put both colours on the one bobbin.
Cardboard bobbins are the best and can be used again..just get white out/tippex/liquid paper (chose product depending on your country..LOL) and clean them up for the next project.
Dont forget to double check them when you have finished setting them all up as you wont have to check them when stitching and if you made a mistake, you wont know till the end.
If you dont understand what i am getting at, let me know, i shall scan my bobbins for you.
