Re: Mabel's WIPs
Had a bit of trouble with the bag as it is not exactly square -- I mean, the angles aren't exactly 90 degrees and so I couldn't get the patch to sit absolutely straigh
. Even so, I'm very pleased with it
! I used extra strong sewing cotton in dark blue to hem the whole thing in knotted blanket stitch, then sewed it onto the bag by doing bakstitch along the bottom edge of the blanket stitch. I then attached 4 big wooden buttons using the same dark blue sewing cotton.
And here it is (three views because my camera refuses to reproduce it as it looks in real life, colour-wise, so I photographed it against different backgrounds):

I hope she'll like it, if not I'll tak it back again and use it myself -- even though I'm not a red-head

It's perfect Mabel. If she doesn't like it, I'll give her a home - I'm not a red head either.
Seriously, I'm sure she will love it and those buttons are fabarooney!!

Re: Mabel's WIPs
That looks fantastic. The buttons really finish it off well, and the colour contrast really shows the stitching off. Fab!
