Sorry Midge, peacock is stalling a bit :-( -- I just seem to be too tired to concentrate on the filling stitches (which is the only thing that still needs doing). So I've been stitching up a few more "minis".

Remember the thread Midge sent me? I did a few "no-cut minis" with that but didn't photograph them. Anyway, here they are, probably going to be gift tags or something like that. They're on 25ct:

Then last night, looking for somthing relaxing and simple to stitch, I had an idea. None of these minis involve cutting; but I did use "surface filling stitches" on some of them, which look better on fabric that's not too fine. Now I have some 20ct aida which is absolutely unsuitable for cut Hardanger, but I thought I'd try them for this -- I chose a few variegated DMC perles and some toning #8 to go with them, and had a go. And you know what, I like the effect! The satin stitching shows up well, and the filling stitches too. I may do a few more of these :-)

I'm making a few changes to the charts, after that if anyone would like to try some of them just drop me a line and I'll be happy to send them.

They show off the variegated threads well, don't they! :applesauce:

What a good idea to use some finer Aida for the surface satin stitches!

The ideas go on and on!! 8)

Never mind the peacocks for now Mabel, you will get done eventually.
The non-cut work is great and I love it in those colours. It looks so different I would never have recognised it as the one I sent. On my screen it looks very bright; lime, lemon and peppermint.

The Variegated colours really show up.

Wish my French knots came out that good.

It took a lot of practice to get them like that, trust me :-) -- just do a sample bit of fabric full of them, and after a while they start coming naturally (I used to hate them with a vengeance...)

Did a little stitching on holiday, the first colour of Horizon. It looks totally lop-sided and not very promising :-D ! I hope the other colours will make the difference. It's not pictorial in anyway, so even with the other colours it's going to be abstract/geometric, but it'll be interesting to see how it develops from here :-)

Two more feathers to fill on Peacock -- very probably some time this week!
