Thanks everyone. And gosh. I was pretty sure I replied to this already, but apparently not.
Anyway. The Cross Stitcher free gifts materials have been pretty frustrating. But the patterns for them are usually so cute. Honestly the material choices for this bookmark were not well thought out. I did everything I could to minimize thread wastage while making it and I barely had enough dark blue and brown. And I had used 16ct instead of 14 ct, which saved me a little bit of thread by having less space to cover. They need some better quality control on the free gifts.

They are a bit stiff. But I don't mind it too terribly on small projects when the cloth is stiff as it seems to help keep good tension when stitching in hand. I just really wish they'd stop being so stingy with the thread.

Yes thread sometimes I think uhoh and its just been enough! Lucky Lucky, some free kits arent the same as they used to be, and its abit of a cheek when the price of the mag is dearer.
My gran gets most diff ones.
Amanda - Well, considering the number of patterns we get in each issue. I don't tend to really count the free gift against the cost? So I feel the cost is worth it even if the gift is kind of meh. But then I'm sure it costs you quite a bit less than it does me. I shell out $11 an issue compared to the £4. We're paying an extra $5 in import cost (since I buy it in stores) on top of the £ to $ conversion.

I know I had a thread of this started someplace but I have looked for about 10 minutes and can not find it so I am just going to add this here. This was the kit I started and then set aside because it was WHITE ON WHITE and it was killing me. I had thought to start over but I was stubborn and did not want to lose the work I had done. After finishing off the Autumn Runner I decided to pull this out and dig in with both heels and get it done. Not only was it the white on white but also with only 8 colors the designer thought it was a smashing idea to use just 4 symbols 4 in red and 4 in black........ really that is rediculous. So anyway it is cute but I will never do another primary white on white project again. The fabric will be changed out first and formost.
Yes for any of you that ask both dogs are completely stitched in white floss.
If you are looking for some one to help change you, look in the mirror
I had that experience before, Rose, and my eyes were very sore when I finished the project. I also tend to change the color of the fabric if there are too many white on white design. I find it difficult to stitch on black fabric as well.
