I received the Terry Redlin Dimensions Gold kit for my dad and after asking, randomly, how many other different sizes Q-snaps came in besides the 11"x17" ones I have, my grandfather ordered me every. Single. Other. Size that Q-Snaps make.

It was just a question, not a request!
I love my Pa so very much and I understand where his need to spoil me comes from and admittedly, it's a sad place. He and my Gram always looked forward to the day my Pa would go on Social Security so he could spoil
her. I remind him so very much of her and I know he worries about the state of my health since my Gram died so young.

It makes me feel loved, but at the same time, it makes me sad that he can't spoil my Gram the way he always wanted to.

That is one lovely grandfather you have -- not so much for the present, but for the thoughtfulness behind it of finding out about something you like and would use -- very special!
Desiree, I am drooling over your stash!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You've got some of my favourite silks there

He is a wonderful man

. It isn't that my parents weren't there, but they were young so my grandparents took on most of the responsibility of caring for me. He and I have a very special relationship and I can't think of anyone I'd rather have as a granddad.
He has always tried to make sure that whatever interested me was there at my fingertips. He is very similar with my brother, though they have more things in common.
My brother's birthday is March 1st. He LOVES planes. Both my dad and grandpa like radio controlled, well, anything. He got my brother his very own plane! It will fly on its own, but will be connected to another control box so he can think he's flying even when he isn't.
Pa is definitely 1 in a million and I an so happy that if anyone gets to call him grandpa, it's my brother and me.

That sounds like a very special relationship, no wonder you treasure it!
Lesley, those are lovely colours, have you got a project in mind for them yet?
Desiree, anything you use stranded cotton for

-- it just gives a more luxurious feel to the work and I think they have a greater depth of colour, but that may just be my imagination. Personally I love them, I know some people really dislike working with them, so it must be a very personal thing, I hope you'll like them! Most of the silks you've got there are "soft" silks (Thread Gatherer, Belle Soie, Splendor), generally quite easy to work with and with a subtle lustre, unlike flat silks, which have a very pronounced sheen but are not the easiest thing to work with... Caron Waterlilies is a lightly twisted silk, so with a bit more texture, and Alyce Schroth silk is quite matt and uses old-fashioned natural dyes. Do remember that most of these are not colourfast! Otherwise enjoy

I finally got my copy of cross stitch collection! I'm really getting annoyed with future publishing at the moment. They're always late, this one has arrived two weeks before the next one goes on sale in the shops >_< Still, I'm absolutely in love with the designs.
