It hardly looks as if it needs backstitch, it is so beautifully shaded and detailed already!

I agree on the backstitching. I am seriously considering omitting a good deal of it, especially in the leaves--I love how they look already

Karen- this is a great project. I had to dig to find it (cant see photos at work so I've given up looking through the SAL's) I can't believe you can put this down to work on Noel.. this has such fun happy colors. Just looking at it makes me think of Florida.

Thanks Maggie--I do really love the design a lot but I find I need a break from it from time to time, so I've resorted to working on it during the week and then working on Noel on weekends. It does remind me of Florida, even if it's a different species of kingfisher than what we get here--I believe the ones in the project are really English kingfishers, but the colors are great and the design is just too nice! I'll be posting an updated picture soon--making nice steady progress on it and should be done in a few weeks :)

Time for another update on this--getting close to finishing, or at least getting close to where I will get to the backstitching.

That is really beautiful and you are flying through it.

I bought 197 today, its just in our local shop now, mainly for the Joan Elliott fairy design but I did hesitate over the Kingfisher one. We are always about 2 months behind with mags.
Well done Karen. You will soon have it finished.
