Hi there.

Thank you all so much for the lovely comments. The metallics have been really good, far better than I could have hoped for. I'm using kreinik #4 very fine braid, liberally applied with thread heaven and you can't tell the difference between that and normal floss - no splitting, twisting, swearing etc. etc. (!). The only other metallics I've used before were DMC light effects and they were a complete nightmare (slightly tamed with Thread Heaven but not nearly as good as the kreinik).

I'm seriously considering doing this design for myself at a later date, I've really enjoyed it, although I'm a bit anxious it's not going to be finished in time. If not it'll have to be a late present, after all hubby is playing his trumpet in the ceremony, so that should be some sort of contribution on the day!!!

Thanks again,

A very rousing one, I would have thought :-)!

It would be lovely to make the deadline but I'm sure that they wouldn't mind waiting for such a personal present.

Beautiful! I think you really should do it for yourself - I know I would love one!

I think you can even do this one on time for the wedding

Well I've finished the border around the top half

and have also just finished the gold outline around the bottom half.

No more metallics!!!! I was on the fifth reel!!!

Hopefully I can get the border done by the weekend and then onto the lettering. I still haven't decided what to write yet. I think it'll just be something simple with their names and the date. Then wash and the beading. I've got no idea how long the beading is going to take, as I haven't done any before, but I had a quick tot up and there's around 500 beads!!! Yikes!

:applesauce: This is so beautiful. The colors are striking and you have done a wonderful job.
I can't begin to imagine doing 500 beads, but it will look amazing when you are done.

It's so wonderful!

I recently did my first project with beads and I was so nervous but they went really quickly and easily. Granted, there were not that many, but I found them to be quite fun. I used a very thin, short quilting needle called a "between."

I love the little elephants at the bottom. If you can't finish in time why not create a fancy IOU with a close up shot of part of the finished design (enough to pique their interest but not enough to know what it is) and give them that? They'll be wondering what it is and when they do finally get it they'll be thrilled because they know this is something personal you've done.
