Thank you for all the lovely comments!

Meerkat, I'm looking forward to watching your SAL of this when you decide to start it.

Susan, I've done quite well on the cost front actually - the HAED was a gift from Simon for Christmas, the sunflowers was a gift from his sister, the tulips I treated myself when I changed jobs as my wages overlapped, predator I had most of the threads in my stash and made the chart myself, Chinese dragon I had most of the threads and the chart was in a book I'd had for years.... I think I've managed to do rather well in avoiding having to get my purse out.

Fleur, I think this will be a picture for the kitchen to go with the first sunflower picture I stitched last year, which was a gift from my Dad (another freebie, Susan  ). I should be able to frame this one myself as it's not very big. I'm going to start trying to frame a few of my smaller projects over the next few weeks.

It looks great Sarah. I am totally amazed by how quickly you stitch. How many hours do you stitch each day. I know you have a job so it must only be in an evening - sorry I'm so nosey but I really am "gobsmacked."

Sorry you got fed up with the half crosses, Wendy. The worst thing I found about them is that you can hardly see the yellow ones against the fabric, the colours are so pale! Would love to see yours go from UFO to WIP though.

I'll post a photo later of the first layer of blackwork finished before I start the second lot.

WOW WOWWOWWOW
Told you you'd finish first didn't I!!! I haven't even got mine out of the box!!

It's fantastic! :applesauce: Well done! You've inspired me to carry on! When I've finished several other things of course!!

Wendy, I'm glad I inspired you to finish yours at some point!

Midge, I seem to have more time for stitching now since my partner had to move out of town to try and get work, so I'm on my own every evening and 2 weekends out of 3.

Usually I get home from work at 4.45, walk the dog while my dinner cooks, eat, wash up and start stitching by 6pm and pretty much carry on for 4 hours until I go to bed.

Weekends, I get all my jobs and shopping out of the way on Saturday mornings and then all afternoon and evening and all day Sunday I stitch!

I won't have so much time for the next 10 days as other half will be staying with me over the Easter break, but I'll still stitch every evening as I fall asleep in front of the TV otherwise!

Thanks for replying Sarah.
Out of a bad thing, a good one comes hey. How I would love 4 hrs of un-interupted stitching.
My Hubby works away in the week but by the time I've put the children to bed, I only have about an hour to myself and weekends, we do family stuff.

Midge, I'm lucky in that I have plenty of time to myself at home - my only children are the dog and the fishes!

Well I don't have children at home any more. :( All grown up and living there on life. But I still do not get 4 hours per night as a matter fact this week so far I have not had 4 hours total. :x Evenings with hubby are taken up doing paper work for our business plus dinner and picking the house up so the piles don't over take. Then of course 2 dogs and 3 cats. One cats has decided that the only place to relax is my lad and over one arm. Has made it ver had to do much stitching. No sure why she is so lovey all of a sudden.

Only the one cat here, but a stepson to make up for that :-), and like Rose there is usually lots of paperwork for the business, and cooking of course -- I usually manage to stitch after dinner, but then we usually don't have dinner until 8 o' clock :-) so that doesn't leave an awful lot!

I understand about having your own business taking up loads of your time - when I was married I worked from home for 3 years and it's not like you can do 9 - 5 and then leave it alone, is it? Sometimes I'd be at it 10 hours a day 7 days a week - I don't think I did a single stitch the whole time! I was almost glad to stop doing it and go back to having a job working for someone else!

I must admit that's tempting sometimes -- but then before this I was a teacher, and that too was never a 9 to 5 job!
