I love BoInk, Slinky, and am hoping to take it to my stitching group this afternoon -- the trouble is that it's big and I really need to use my 9" snap frame to make it workable, but I find that frame quite heavy and awkward to hold, and it's not very comfortable as a project at my usual stitching time and place, which is curled up in a comfy arm chair after dinner -- and "after dinner" is rarely before 8.15pm. By that time I want something I can pick up easily and don't have to wrestle with :-).

So I need to stitch it at the dining room table next to the big window by daylight, and I hardly ever have the opportunity to do that -- and when I do, at the moment the tray cloth takes priority! But hopefully I will eventually finish BoInk... :x:

Fair enough. I think we all have difference stitching preferences at different times of the day/week/month. I know that's why I've got three very different projects on the go just now.

I'm pleased BoInk is just 'on the backburner' as opposed to abandoned completely. With all that time you have invested to date it would be a pity to never finish it.

Did another one  ! Here is the info:

D: Au Ver à Soie Soie Ovale
stats: filament, single-strand, flat, 59 solid shades
notes: raw silk
review: Soie Ovale is a flat filament silk about as thick as two strands of DMC. Coverage on 16ct is good, and more than adequate on 14ct unless there is a great contrast between the background and the silk. If a single strand is too thick for your purpose, it can be separated further, but this is a fiddly process and it is difficult to get the same thickness every time. As a flat silk, Soie Ovale is prone to snagging on fabric, rough fingers, and so on; however, just run it quickly between thumb and finger and it lies smooth again – and even if it does stay a little fuzzy, that doesn't actually show up in the stitches. This is one of the flattest silks I've used, and lies flat without needing much encouragement beyond an occasional smoothing stroke of the needle. It has a strong but subtle lustre which runs continuously along the stitch, with the same slight haziness that Japanese flat silks have, reminiscent of vintage silk in their look. At the end of the thread (especially if it is cut a little long) it can get very slightly fuzzy, which is unusual in a filament silk; it may be because it is a raw silk instead of a cultivated one.

Soon I won't be able to do an overview picture anymore :-)

I'll have to dig through my nots but I think it was a freebie alphabet that I modified a bit. I had to find quite a few alphabets, as at the latest count 89  silks are hoping to be part of this (including these four) -- and that's after I've left out some of them because they were too much like others, or not widely obtainable, or available in very few colours :-)
