I really like the Lviv, too, in both colourways. Especially taken by the variation on regular chain stitch, which is beautiful. Is that a Mabel original stitch, or did you find it somewhere?

Do you mean the stitch right at the top? I've called it Feather Braid as it is basically a chain of single feather stitch done on one line of holes and it looks vaguely braid-like when you combine several rows of it. It's what you might call a Mabel Variation rather than a Mabel Original
In the book on Ukrainian embroidery, they used feather stitch as a hem stitch -- I liked the look of it and thought it would look good as a surface stitch, so tried out a few combinations. This one is two rows of single feather stitch mirrored along the horizontal, but Orpheus uses two rows mirrored vertically and slightly off-set, which creates a completely different look. It's really a very versatile stitch!

Resurrection is now on the site (where you can also see the story that inspired it), and here is a slightly larger pic plus a close-up of the wing to show the sparkle and the Kloster blocks cut on both sides:

The second version of Lviv is finished -- here is the blue-on-blue (although DH says it's so pale it's practically white-on-white

) together with the coloured one for comparison:
Now working on Sprinkles -- after that I may take a break from my own stuff

and do the Tree of Stitches for a change!

it looks beautiful Mabel, amazing how the same design can look so different just by changing the colors used.
What is the Tree of Stitches? Another Hardanger project?
