Can anyone recommmend a good site that they have used to have a photo converted into a chart? or a good software programme to create my own?
I have Jane Greenoff's cross stitch designer and I used it to convert a black and white photo of Aerosmith but I am not happy with the results so far.
Please help!
Vanessa

I use Stitchtastic for the Mac. I really like it, but since there aren't many Mac programs for stitching, I don't have anything to compare it to.

i've used this lady's site before. on the right side you'll see "custom designs available". you can email her and speak to her about what you want. she's been nice to deal with in my experience.

I would definitely recommend Shell at

She did a chart for me from an old black and white photo - very well and very quickly, just in a couple of days.
She's also got examples of her work so you can judge for yourself.
Good luck!

I use Jane Greenhoff's Designer Gold and have excellent results from it. I stitched Sylvia at 17 and her in her 50's. I have also done charts for friends with good results. I think it depends on the quality of the photo and how many colours you program in.
Both photo's of Sylvia were from professional/semi professional cameras and in both cases I programmed in a max of 50 colours which resulted in around 38 on a 6x4 size.

Thanks everyone. Skitzzzzz kindly has made me a chart with her software of the Aerosmith concert I went to. It looks amazing and I am so pleased. I will get the stuff and start it soon. Look out for it in the SAL.
