JR's The Guardian Dimensions Gold Collection

This is my first 'big' project and my first cross stitch in awhile. It came in a kit, which was really nice but all the threads were groups together and it was kind of a pain to separate colors.

Here's what the finished product will look like:

Image

Its 18 count ivory Aida and will finish 16" x 12".

And here's what I have so far: :wip:

Image

The curved part to the right is the beginning of the nose for the wolf in the middle. Since this is my first cross stitch in awhile at first I worked pretty strictly in the blocks, but by the 3rd or 4th I started to branch out with the colors and now I'm working more in blocks of color. I started from the center and the very block which probably has the most color changes for the whole thing! The purple corresponds to my chart, and the blue is to divide the chart block into quarters because apparently I can't count.

From here I'll work up and out so I can start to see the head emerge.

Nice start!! I can imagine how annoying sorting threads would be in that kit with so many similar colours. It'll be worth it in the end though. :)

For some reason I seem to be really attracted to the kits with a color scheme. Its awful because I look at them and know I'll end up with 20 shades of blue...

Thanks!

Lovely project and a great start! :applesauce: :applesauce: :D

That's the trouble with kits - they mostly come with hanks of assorted threads and you have to work out which are which - a real pain! Doesn't stop me buying kits, though! Even though I now prefer to buy the chart and then get the fabric and threads seperately.

What a beautiful design, the trees almost make a sort of abstract design-with-the-design!

I hate kits like that but fortunately my mum loves sorting out the threads so she does it for me if she is around!
This is a lovely kit and the stitching you have done so far is very neat.

Here's a bit more than a week update:

Image

Its kind of dark in here where I took the picture. I don't think the colors are off though.

The wolf's head is part with the most color changes. Besides that its fairly large blocks of vertical color. Even the other wolf's head is only a few colors. I feel a bit slow looking at all the other projects, but I don't have any problem with it lasting me a good long time. Less money I can spend on other projects.

I've broken 3 needle threaders though. I guess I'm a bit rough with them. I won't have any more until at least tomorrow. Where can I get a heavy duty needle threader?
