I've bought this:

haed cross stitch chart, Josephine Wall QS Ships and Shell so I have a little project to switch off on. My only problem is that while it does have a color - symbol chart telling me how many strands to use it doesn't have a floss usage chart telling me how many skeins to buy. Do I email the people or does that mean there's just one skein per color?

I have a 20% off total purchase at Michaels for this week so I'd love to be able to buy the thread and fabric for it this week.

Any tips for me?

I got a floss usage chart with my HAED. Although I only bought one of each because I wasn't sure exactly how many i'm going to need so I figured I could just buy extra ones when I need them.

Just email Michelle and she'll send one to you! I had the same thing happen with my Knotweed chart. She got back to me within a few hours. They are great people to deal with.

P.S. that's a beautiful chart! I'm curious as to what type of threads are used...any specialty ones? (aka not cotton)

Vega - Thanks! I've thought it was a really pretty little chart for quite some time now. Of course the larger ones are magical too, but this was on of the ones that caught my eye regardless of size. I don't think there's any special threads in it. I didn't see anything that says metallic, but I'm not honestly sure.

the charts are all dmc, however some call for krenik, I have only seen one colour, 032 pearl

Ahhh, I've been meaning to ask about that! I have 032 or 035...something like that on one of my charts and couldn't find it in the cotton floss. The chart in this thread looks sparkly to me, I was wondering how it got that effect. Or maybe its just me LOL

I used to feel confuse about that too, but I try the google because I can't find 032 at the DMC color list. And finally the google answered: it's Kreinik, not DMC, or let's just say Metallic Pearl.

Nope. No 032. I'm not completely sure I could look at the colors and establish sparkly vs not sparkly, but I don't see anything that looks sparkly. There are those little stars in the background that look like they could use some shine too. Maybe I'll just throw it in there anyways. =)

I haven't received a response from my inquiry about the floss usage chart yet. Hopefully I'll get one soon. My coupon only goes until Saturday.

Jr, don't forget to check your bulk or spam emails as well. I've had a couple of my main emails get deleted because they went to the wrong box.

I got the floss usage chart directly by asking HAED. They were very quick. You can do the arithmetic to figure out how many skeins.

032 and 035 refer to kreinik threads, in this case, they use very fine braid (number 4).

I just received my floss usage chart. So all in all less than a 24 hour turn around. =)

That's great! I had to do some calculations to prepare to do 3 HAEDs at 1 time. I didn't want to end up buying 3 skeins of a color that only uses a total of 250 stitches between them. I figured out they estimate appx 3500 stitches per skein.

I bought another chart to *coughcough* see if it had a floss usage chart. It did. Now that I have both its probably a good idea to check between them.

which I saw and fell in love with. Its weird. I don't usually like especially cutesy charts, but I saw one by this artist and really loved it, and then I saw the siamese cat and just had to have it. It has great big blocks of the same color, which I think will be good for my first big HAED. I really thought about getting a Josephine Wall full sized because they're so gorgeous, but they're also incredibly intimidating. Maybe next time...

Don't be deceived by the colors in the picture...that chart has 90 different colors LOL

I looked at the actual chart and there are big blocks of color. Plenty of places where there aren't, but I'm guessing way more so than a Josephine Wall. Even though they are so gorgeous!

I love it - I'll have to add that to my list of reasons to explain to DH why I must have another chart!
