There are some free patterns here.

Perhaps you can make a small sampler youself from the motifs.

silly first time mum question.

i have 2 kids that will be same school year. is the first day of school the first day of nursery or the first day they will be there all day?

Im going to put mine as their first day of their Reception year... if that makes any sense.
My daughter has just finished her Nursery year and when i finally get around to putting it in stitches Ill be stitching the day when she starts in September in reception.
But you could put whatever you wanted. I guess some would count the Nursery as starting school......its a personal preference :)

i was thinking reception as well cuz they're there all day doing proper work, and not just playing with toys/painting etc.

I've counted it as the reception year, Joanna started nursery when she was about 18 months old. Also they do not do a lot of work in reception, it's mainly play, Im forever asking Joanna what she's done and she tells me she's played!

Reception? is that the American version of Preschool or Kindergarten?

Reception year here in the UK starts the September after they are 4 or you can wait until they are 5 if you like! My daughter just started her Reception year then they go up in years so next year she ll be in year 1 then onto 2 etc.... :)
